Bartolome del Presidio & Lurrus of the Dream-Den companion deck with a Carnival of Souls combo, some Sword of the Meek shenanigans and lots of combos. Depending on budget this can go from a grindy aristocrat deck to a turbo combo deck.

This is my current build of Bartolome with Lurrus as companion. I've been working on this deck since Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim was release and transitioned into Bartolome del Presidio after he was released. In this primer you will find my current list, individual card thoughts, combo explanations, some upgrades, sidegrades and budget options.

¿Why Bartolome over Elas?

I believe having a free sac outlet in the command zone is more valuable. You can run around 8 Blood Artist-esque effects in the 99 but not that many free sac outlets. Bartolome can also grow to be a real threat capable of one-shotting your opponents. Most importantly, unlike other free sac outlets like Viscera Seer and Carrion Feeder, Bartolome can sacrifice artifacts, which opens lots of new lines with artifacts such as Ichor Wellspring and Sword of the Meek.

Sword of the Meek Package

Sword of the Meek has the ability to come back from your graveyard everytime a 1/1 creature enters under your control. Bartolome & Lurrus is a deck full of 1/1 creatures such as Esper Sentinel, Orcish Bowmasters, Mother of Runes, Guide of Souls and Bitterblossom tokens. It also works great with Nether Traitor, ensuring a constant stream of sacrifices for Bartolome, and Animation Module particularly.

There are 2 cards fully dedicated to Sword of the Meek in this deck: Puresteel Paladin and Stone Haven Outfitter. Both can trigger multiple times per turn, just remember to sacrifice the sword with Bartolome before any 1/1 enters the battlefield. Stone Haven Outfitter also triggers with Skullclamp giving you 3 cards per dead creature.

You could add tutors like Stoneforge Mystic and Steelshaper's Gift if you really want to go all-in with Sword of the Meek. You could also swap the 3-5 cards package for other cards.
