Thanks canterlotguardian! Grandeur as an ability always interested me, and I particularly saw it as a challenge in EDH.

Is there anything here you think I could improve on?

I'd run Restore as it can potentially (pun intended) land you a sweet land out of your opponent's graveyard, or one of your own if LD happens. Plus it'll fuel future Baru activations and give you bigger creatures.

There is merit there, but I'm not so much trying to get a lot of land drops for a mega Overrun effect. With this decklist I'm trying to discard Baru infinitely for X/X Wurm tokens, hopefully swinging same turn with Concordant Crossroads on the field.

Awesome idea! It's rare I really see something creative in an EDH deck, but this is great.

Erratic Portal seems vastly superior to the Obelisk. Or run both, for redundancy.

but what about the rule that by the time your commander hits your hand, it immediately goes directly to your command zone and thus can't even discard it....?

metalmustaine, the rule is when a commander is changing zone, you can choose to instead move it to the command zone. In these cases, I'm choosing to have it stay in my hand, I'm choosing it to stay in grave after discard, I'm choosing it to come to my hand after the Paleoloth trigger.

but i know that there is already a new rule that you can no longer choose if commander goes to the hand or library.. only if if goes to the grave or exile that you can choose.

I like what you're doing, but I think you're running too many nonbasic lands. I'd run between 36 and 38 lands, of which 30 should be Forests.

I'd also run more land tutoring.

purplebackpack89: It's closer to about 32 lands since the Karst and Thicket are used more for cycling, and Arena is for removal. That being said I never have any land problems in my games, was actually going to take out another Forest (Or Mosswort Bridge) for a Maze of Ith next week.

I guess I was thinking less about mana screw and more about Baru's ability #1. I know your strategy is built more on ability #2, but since you're running Baru, might as well have a least a little support for ability #1

purplebackpack89: It's a lot easier to only cast Baru when you need him, to make sure he's at 5 mana.

What about Command Beacon as a way to put Baru into your hand?

I always thought that the granduer legends were pretty useless in edh. It seems that I am wrong!
