Angels out in the field! —May 14, 2021

I was trying to do some funky stuff with this deck at first. Now it has Purpose, and now it has Focus.

It's now all about the angels. I like the angels drawing their power from both the light and the dark. Plains + Swamp s. Not evil, but not good eigher. I

They're here to protect yet willing to sacrifice others to protect themselves.

You dont need the fabled passage or evolving Wilds, no landfall triggers. Id recommend just replacing them with some Plains

harley - # Mana fixing to thin your deck makes your deck faster.

Mathematically - it's not going to give you the spells you want faster. I acknowledge that.

What it does is keep me from drawing lands when I don't want to. What if I rather have a Plains instead of being forced to play a Faceless Haven or a Sejiri Glacier .

Another good option is to just hold it in your hand as a bluff.

I think you have to either go aggro or control. Including 5 mana cards with no ETB's is sadly a death sentence in this meta. Basri, Baneslayer, and Chimera all seem like replaceable cards. Show of Confidence is the only real target for Mavinda. Fabled Passage works as deck thinning, although I would lean towards simply replacing it with Faceless Haven. In general, the decks seems to be trying to do a lot of different things at the same time. If you decide to build around Mavinda, I would add more instants/sorceries and maybe add the Magecraft 1 drop/2 drop package from Strixhaven. In a more controlling, midrange version you could still use Mavinda, but instead, focus on removal that you can recast from the graveyard. (although I would advise against this version, as mono-white just doesn't have enough pieces to ramp, draw cards and stay in the game for too long).

Dear amerika00 how is a 2 costing 3/3 flying in a bad thing?

How is a Baneslayer Angel a bad thing? Especially in midrange during Standard?

Please explain?

How is Opt a bad card? (people want to limit it in Standard)?

Dear Minousmancer,

In my previous comment, I attempted to share with you my opinion of the deck while providing some constructive criticism. Whether you make those changes is entirely up to you, if you are happy with what you have, then you could've simply dismissed my concerns rather than becoming offended at the idea that someone had a different opinion than yourself. Based on your previous comment, you need to work on accepting and taking criticism into consideration rather than lashing out when you disagree with others. I'm not sure how Opt got here, probably not the best card in a mono-white deck. Show of confidence still seems unnecessary, since it benefits from multiple instants/sorceries, and you only have a total of 10 of those, 2 of which are somewhat expensive. Daybreak Chimera could be good, but running 4 of them seems risky in case multiple copies show up in your opening hand (granted, this is unlikely). Removing Mavinda was a good call ;)

Sincerely, amerika00

I was just looking for further clarification with my last response.

I took some of your advice and retooled the deck to be more focused.

As an example I replaced Mavinda, Students' Advocate with Lurrus of the Dream-Den as I feel it's a better fit.
