The idea of this deck is to always be dealing damage passively as well as aggressively. Mogis, God of Slaughter ensures damage, or a clean board is in my future, and works nicely with his buddies Erebos, God of the Dead, and Purphoros, God of the Forge as it will shut down an opponent's life gain, and let me deal additional damage every time I cast a creature. Rakdos, Lord of Riots is just an amazing card. 6/6 flying trampler for 4? Yes, please. Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch ensures my unleashed beasties have haste in the event I can't get a Hammer of Purphoros out. Sacrificing a Hellhole Flailer to deal damage, whipping him back and swinging (or sacrificing him again if i have the mana) and getting getting another two damage on your opponent from Purphoros isn't a bad deal either.
