No, he isn't very competitive. Desecration demon takes his place.

well desecration demon has obviously been the main strongarm in competitive decks, especially mono-black, but tell me why desecration demon is any better than Rakdos, Lord of Riots in a r/b deck? i would do him at least as a 2 of.
March 25, 2014 12:25 a.m.
Rakdos, Lord of Riots has a drawback of " you can't cast rakdos lord or riots unless an opponent lost life this turn" while Desecration Demon does not. Also, desecration demon is much easier to cast only requiring 2 black symbols and 2 colorless, not the very specific 2 black 2 red that rakdos has.

Rakdos, Lord of Riots forces you to do things you may not want to do to cast him and is useless when you're behind (because in that case you probably can't cast him). The same is not true for D.Demon

im wondering why youj are running 24 lands because of your mana need i would think 22 would be enough, especially with the dual lands
April 5, 2014 4:19 p.m.
My CMC is almost 3 and without mana dorks, the two extra lands really are necessary. This isn't as low cost as typical rakdos aggro.

What was the deciding factor to include Lightning Strike over Magma Jet ? +1 great build!

This deck continuously had great draws. That makes the scry less appealing to me. It's up to you though, I prefer the extra damage although scry is still extremely good.

I playtested this deck a bunch of times and it was very strong. Chandra was useless for me, unfortunately. She was either complete ass or a win-more card, more times she was the former. I would consider swapping her for another demon. Also, skullcrack was useless in a lot of my game 1's other than serving for 3 damage. I would replace it with magma jets and sideboard them in vs control or monoblack.
Lastly, I got loved tenderly by the whip of erebos. Wasn't much I could do once it was out.

Cacklers and spike jesters eat burn spells and don't last very long, but you can't chain stormbreath dragon to any rocks, so it is a game winner there. Boros burn is very strong though.

I'd like to see more Mogis, God of Slaughter in this deck just becuase of the combo he has with Desecration Demon to force a lot of sacs on the opponent's side. But, I think the 1 is ok.
Also if you wanted to change this deck up a bit you could replace Spike Jester with Rakdos Shred-Freak and put in maybe 2 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx . Lots of devotion for those early monstrous Stormbreath Dragon s

Why mainboard Lifebane Zombie wouldn't it be better to put him on the side and main something else like Rakdos's Return
+1 from me

no Hellhole Flailer ? the guys a great attacker with a built in fling!
April 6, 2014 8:28 p.m.
Ever thought of sideboard or mainboard Sire Of Insanity ? it completely dumps on control, and if it land on the field can just win on it's own
April 7, 2014 3:08 a.m.
Great Deck. +1
Any difficulties to cast Stormbreath Dragon turn 5?Have you ever considered 25 land.
And + I have to agree with you Desecration Demon is much better then Rakdos, Lord of Riots .
April 7, 2014 4:21 a.m.
lol @ Rakdos Shred-Freak > Spike Jester
I would add 2 copies of Mutavault . It wouldn't really hurt your mana base (you have 14 Red and 18 Black) and it would add a bit more power to the deck.
April 8, 2014 2:05 a.m.
-1 Herald of torment -1 Rakdos cackler, -1 Spike Jester.
+1 Mogis, +2 Bile Blight it is a great card for you Whip of Erebos would also be good.
April 8, 2014 7:38 p.m.
I don't like Skullcrack in the main here. Your deck isn't that aggressive. It looks like it's designed to win closer to turn 6 or 7 with your slew of 4-drops and 5-drops. Remove it and 1 Dreadbore for 3 Bile Blight . Bile Blight's an amazing card that wrecks Pack Rat , Mutavault , and any aggro deck with playsets of creatures (i.e. all of them). Dreadbore is obviously great, but you would still have 6 Dreadbore-type effects and that would open your deck up for more instant-speed shenanigans.

What about Mogis's Marauder ? Haste and intimidate come in very useful. I play a similar Rakdos deck, actually the BotG Event Deck modified to the teeth, and i've turned soooo many games around when he hits the field. Just somethin for ya to ponder on! plus 1 for this deck my friend!

I really like this deck I think I am making one that is similar to it.
