Oh Deathpact Angel, why must you be so enticing, yet so... bad? I mean, look at that art, it's awesome. Even the whole card looks nice, with the way the gold background matches the gold in the art. Plus the mythic symbol gives it a nice splash of red. But this had to be a giant waste of a mythic spot, as well as some nice artwork. There's no way that a 5/5 flyer that has no ETB effects but can recur itself is going to be useful... is there?

This deck is supposed to make the Angel actually viable. We'll see where it goes, but currently the best way to win will be reanimating it after discarding it, dealing 5 damage to the face from Flayer of the Hatebound. After that, its a 5/5 flyer that needs to be blocked, but can't be killed or 5 more damage will be taken. Will this work? Maybe. Maybe not. But I can't just sit here and let the card be a total failure. Anyway, here's a card-by-card description of my rationale behind whats here.

Creatures

Deathpact Angel - If you read the previous two paragraphs, you don't need to hear me say more. If you didn't, please do. Don't worry, I'll wait. Honestly, there are probably better cards that could be used here. However I did not set out to make a logical deck, I set out to make a deck that includes Deathpact Angel. So there.

Flayer of the Hatebound - He's pretty cool for making the Angel do more than simply recur itself. While I want Deathpact Angel to be the star, two of this guy in one game can do it all basically.

Sire Of Insanity - Right now he's a 2-of, since I want to see how he'll fare. Its in the place of Obzedat's Aid since the aid isn't really necessary. I might try upping the number of Sires, depending on if he cripples me or helps me (it should be the latter). The Sire is the master of screwing control. If he turns out to not work mainboard, I'll send him to the sideboard for control matchups.

Planeswalkers

Liliana of the Veil - She's a one-card control machine. +1 to force your opponent's hand while dropping Unburial Rites or Deathpact Angel into the grave. -2 to remove what avoids the other removal in this deck, or possibly use it to sacrifice the Flayer or Angel in a pinch.

Enchantments

Blind Obedience - Slows down aggro, pretty cheap, and gives me some lifegain and pinging. Sounds good.

Oblivion Ring - My only answer to white really. Exile whatever they use to exile my stuff (Angel of Serenity, Detention Sphere, another Oblivion Ring).

Instants

Searing Spear - Early removal, instant speed, and can be used to kill my own Flayer of the Hatebound if I need to.

Sorceries

Faithless Looting - You can't always get what you need, where you need it. This helps cycle through your cards and put the stuff that you want in the grave in the grave. Flashback is cool for when you're not getting what you need at all, and because of that you've still got untapped lands.

Mutilate - If you noticed, there are some basic Swamps in here, as well as a deficiency in buddy lands. This is why. The mana base is pretty simple, and since the only cards that require 2 mana of the same color require black, the lands aren't an issue. This is just a nice, pretty unavoidable boardwipe. Indestructible effects? HA.

Pillar of Flame - Great at obliterating those weak things that are still scary. Deathrite Shaman is a great target due to his ability to screw this deck over. Its also clean removal of Voice of Resurgence and Gravecrawler to name a few.

Sign in Blood - Similar to Faithless Looting, but I get to keep these cards. The lifeloss isn't a big deal. And I suppose it could be used to kill the opponent if they get taken that low and I topdeck one.

Unburial Rites - A large piece of this deck. Flayer of the Hatebound and this card synergize too well almost. While it is cheaper in the grave, its also less possible uses. So only discard if you have one creature left to bring back, or another Rites in hand.

That's my reasoning behind these cards. I'm down for suggestions, so long as they aren't "Ditch the Deathpact Angel". And if it wasn't clear, the Angel is the "Harlot" and the Flayer is the "Beast". Metal and Magic, done right.
