Tried some things! The goal here was to better utilize Ferocious as well as find a replacement for Fanatic of Xenagos. In practice, the Fanatic would seldom resolve with a permanent +1/+1 counter, and when it did it was because my opponent had a way to remove them soon afterwards. With Ghor-Clan Rampager I at least have the option of Bloodrush, which in itself might dissuade an opponent from removing it immediately.

Roar of Challenge was a holdover from when this deck had Heir of the Wilds and was a way to direct traffic, but the combo seldom occurred and it's now antiquated.

Temur Charm has a lot of options but I found myself wanting to use it as a counter which required keeping too much mana in reserve; Stubborn Denial will fill that role nicely for only one Blue, provided I have a large creature out at the time.

Surrak Dragonclaw and Yasova Dragonclaw are neat cards, but in practice I just didn't use them much. Part of that is because they're one-offs, but as Legendaries I didn't want to load up on them too much. Surrak's mana requirements make him tricky to use, and by the time I've got the mana to burn on him the Trample buff on other creatures may not be necessary. Every time I call Yasova she gets killed almost immediately by a burn spell, and while her creature controlling ability is handy in theory, I just never ended up using it much; I almost always would rather save the mana for some Instant spells in my hand or for casting another creature. With Temur Sabertooth I keep the Ferocious triggers and add some creature protection to my deck.

this deck seems like its basically a standard temur with Ambush Viper. To speed things up something like Birds of Paradise could be helpful. Definitely invest in the Lightning Bolts they are one of the best spells in modern and are not super expensive. Ghor-Clan Rampager is also a card that might help you out a lot!

I like those suggestions! I've looked at Birds of Paradise before but a full playset is well outside my budget. Lightning Bolt is good too and I'm already looking to get some of those for my other decks.

The Ghor-Clan Rampager might be a good and inexpensive replacement for Fanatic of Xenagos. Slightly higher CMC, but more flexible in the long run and a guaranteed Ferocious trigger. Thanks!

Me pleasure!! I really want to build a modern temur deck myself, and i think this is a solid template to start from! The Ghor-Clan Rampager is definitely a really good card for this deck, he is used more often as a pump spell rather than a creature, because it cant be countered. Clout of the Dominus and Favor of the Overbeing could both be fun in this, since you have a lot of multicolored creatures. Another budget card that might speed you up is Burning-Tree Emissary

Oooh, those enchantments look nice and would make Savage Knuckleblades in particular even scarier! Nice!

Oh, since you brought it up, I put in Ambush Vipers to replace the Heir of the Wilds that came with the deck. I found that having Heirs of the Wild in play usually made my opponent turtle and build up their defenses, often to the point where I would have a hard time overcoming; if the battlefield looks clear they're more likely to use their powerful creatures, then I can play Ambush Viper and wipe out a threat. I haven't played this deck in a while but that at least sounds like a decent strategy.

Ah is this build basically from the event deck then?

And i guess the ambush viper is for removal? if that is the case, Mana Leak could come in to sort of stop threats before they hit the board. Its basically one of the modes from Temur Charm but the mana is way easier. There is also Reality Shift that could be helpful here, since a 2/2 morph is not much of a threat considering the rest of your deck.

I had a temur deck for a little bit, and a card that might be good here is Sagu Mauler. He will be hard for most of your opponents to deal with, and if you go for a bit of a ramp strategy then he can come out turn 4 or 5 even!
