I like all those but I can't think of what to take out for them.

Also negate has almost the same effect as Izzet Charm but izzet charm can kill small creatures

I suppose, I just personally prefer to have hard counters over soft ones.

I'd drop one Dissolve and one Magma Jet

I'm thinking of taking out the guttersnipes for 1 turn/burn and 1 spellheart chimera or 2 turn/burn

I've never seen Counterflux before... but I already love it.

You could look at Dispel or Gainsay , but mostly for your sideboard. Those cards work well against control decks. (Very cheap counters that counter most of they're using).

Other than that, Your Izzet Charms work similar to a Syncopate , but they're a bit cheaper. (3 mana for a Syncopate with the same effect or 2 for Izzet Charm ).

The deck seems solid enough. A lot of control decks don't run many creatures though, but it seems like what you have synergizes well.

But what would I know, I'm new to Magic, :p

I feel AEtherling is a much better Win con compared to Spellheart Chimera . I do love the concept behind the card and I've tried to make him work but for the moment unfortunately I believe there are much better alternatives.

My mistake, tigerwoman's comment was actually me posting. I hadn't realized my GF's account was logged on lol.

The only reason I don't Like aetherling is the 6 mana cost but I will playtest it

Aetherling is great as a one of in control decks for a finisher. Right now, with this deck using the chimera, it seems like you are going for more of the tempo route than the control route. I think that with 3 copies of chimera and keranos in the list you don't need aetherling as well.

Give it a go yeah. Make sure when you play AEtherling that you try not to cast him for 6. It's far safer if you wait till you have mana spare to use the exile ability to protect him. I'm sure you know this already but just some friendly advise just in case.

I think you could really benefit from swapping out your Goblin Electromancer 's for Young Pyromancer 's. It's possible to gain huge amounts of value to chump block with and buy's you those extra turn's you might need to field out AEtherling and begin securing the game.

Other option's to consider would be Frostburn Weird if your local stores Meta is fast paced or Omenspeaker If you feel like you would benefit with additional scry.

Your deck looks fairly similar to mine on the whole though, always nice to share advise and talk about how the deck performs.

Standard Blue/Red Control - If you'd like to take a look.

I'm running two copies of AEtherling though largely due to the fact that for me, I need to reliably find my AEtherling when I've climbed up to 7 or 8 mana and begin shutting the door quickly as possible. If you really enjoy the flavor of Spellheart Chimera though by all means I'd use him but as PlattBonnay suggested - You'd be better off tailoring your deck more towards tempo control

+1) Take a look at my Izzet Control/Tempo deck. It is very consistent and has gotten me top 4 in FNM plenty of times. It is most definitely budget. I would suggest Young Pyromancer over Goblin Electromancer . The reason for this is only because I think you can get away with not overloading anything. I don't like Cyclonic Rift only because we have Voyage's End Overall, really like the deck and would love or some advise for my deck. Finally if you want, running Dragonshift with Young Pyromancer is a pretty cool combo. If you are going to do that I definitely like Goblin Electromancer .

Good luck.

What about clever imposter instead of elspeth

Probably run Dragon-Style Twins as means of absolutely overpowering your opponent

With only 5 mountains in the deck, do you ever get stuck with Chained to the Rocks as a dead card in your hand?

September 14, 2014 3:05 p.m.

Bnon says... #22

I feel like I would only run it as a win con and I already have spell heart chimera so I don't think its worth it

September 14, 2014 3:05 p.m.

Bnon says... #23

I actually haven't used this deck yet because its meant for post rotate so it used to be just red blue, but thats why I used to have 6 mountains its double the number of Chained to the Rocks so maybe I should go back to that?

If your looking to get rid of some-ofs, take out the 2 Searing Blood and put in 2x Magma Jet or a 3rd Lightning Strike and 1 Magma Jet . Playing 3 colors aggro-control is hard enough without having to deal with cards that have 2 mountain requirements.

I was thinking of going Mardu but this deck looks like a lot more fun. I may just go with Jeskai.
