Have have you considered switching dragonskull summit with cavern of souls? Zero chance of coming in tapped and can prevent counterspells. Also might think about a thunderous wrath or two.

Cavern of SoulsMTG Card: Cavern of Souls wouldn't work in this deck because there are 3 different creature types at play, and I can't risk not having a black mana for a turn 3 Geralf's MessengerMTG Card: Geralf's Messenger or turn 4 Phyrexian Obliterator MTG Card: Phyrexian Obliterator

True, you may be running 3 creature types, but you are mostly zombie, I would probably pick that type most of the time. Of course sometimes you may be eyeing that obliterator or devil.in your hand, in which case you might take a chance on one of them. However you could end up with more than one and call both. Who knows. But since it taps for ANY color mana it becomes pretty versitile, and gives you a lot of choices and you won't have to run the risk of a countered Geralfs messenger. Plus it provides the added benefit of allowing you to stay aggressive even when facing a potential mana leak where you would otherwise be playing slower trying to play around it. :)

I might sideboard it for control decks, but losing the red from Dragonskull SummitMTG Card: Dragonskull Summit makes it way harder to cast Vexing DevilMTG Card: Vexing Devil or Brimstone VolleyMTG Card: Brimstone Volley or any red sideboard stuff if I choose "zombie" for Cavern of SoulsMTG Card: Cavern of Souls. Colorless mana just doesn't do a lot of good in this deck. I would rather play around some counterspells than sit on cards I can't pay to cast. Thanks for the comments though!

I don't really understand how to playtest on this site, so if you get some free time i'm interested to see how it would do against this deck. Stupid Venser

I am definitely looking to test Killing Wave and see how it works out.

Generally when I playtest (not sure how everyone else does it) I will click the playtest button on the deck I want to try out, then on one of my own decks and pit them against each other, making decisions as impartially as possible. (Like I DON'T know what's in the other guys hand.) If you want to see how the deck does without doing that, there's a free program you can download called Cockatrice, it lets you make your decks and play them against other people for free.

As for the deck, it seems pretty good. I'm not a fan of Mortarpod , never was. I always feel like there are better things, but that's preference, I suppose. +1 here.

Mortarpod is not my favorite card, but it's a great sacrifice engine and has a lot of synergy with Blood Artist and Gravecrawler . I'm kind of looking forward to it cycling out so I have an excuse to go find something more fun.

Hound of Griselbrand for more undying? I have a deck that's like this, but more centered on Undying, if you'd like to check it out. Also, +1 from me.
