Have you ever felt like your deck was missing something? That it just wasn't dank enough? That your Snapcaster Mages were only 2/1s? Or worse of all, you were running none at all? I did, until I was hit by the dankness of Goblin Dank Dwellers.
I would classify this as izzet tempo. It can hit hard and fast, but it also has class. It can hold back and draw a mountain of cards if it chooses to. A healthy creature base and a wide range of cantrips lets this deck stay powerful at all stages of the game. An explanation of the card choices in the deck:
Creatures:
Jori En, Ruin Diver is a card drawing machine, essentially giving me a second draw step each turn on a 2/3 for 3 body.
Stormchaser Mage is my main early threat. It flies over for big damage when I'm casting lots of spells and is pretty tough as well.
Abbot of Keral Keep is a card that's mostly made its debut in aggro, but I believe it has potential for other uses. It has a solid prowess body with an ability that can trigger Jori En on its own if it gets a cantrip.
Goblin Dark-Dwellers
or as I prefer to call it, Goblin Dank-Dwellers, is a superb card and the most underrated card of oath. 4/4 menace for 5 is acceptable, but it can give me so much value. Anything it flashes back is an instant Jori En trigger. Some of the best targets are Expedite, Exquisite Firecraft, and
Grip of the Roil
, all which generate lots of value.
Cantrips:
Expedite is a solid card. It triggers prowess and lets me draw, and can let my deck be very fast, letting me swing in instantly with my Dank Dwellers or my Abbot, plus it can be hit by either of those cards for instant use upon entering the board.
Slip Through Space is what I use to finish games off and swing in for damage. Throwing Titan's Strength and this on an Abbot of Keral Keep is an instant 7 damage unblockable swing, plus that's only 2 mana.
Grip of the Roil
is my solution for threats on the board. The surge is great for tempo as it allows my turns to contain more stuff, and the draw just lets me keep playing stuff and buffing my dudes.
Anticipate is just that good old filter spell. It's nice, but it will probably be first to be replaced by stuff from Innistrad.
Burn:
Exquisite Firecraft is a superb all purpose burn spell. It can hit face, creatures, and planeswalkers, and can be flashed back with Dank Dwellers.
Titan's Strength is my game closing spell. This card played on a creature with evasion is usually game over for my poor opponent.
And that's how things work in Dank Town. Questions? Suggestions? My deck sucks? I'd love to hear them all.
