Dam0,
thanks for your insights. You make a good point. The color identity is there and Poly lines are possible. Poly is prob not the best take on a Sultai Commander, but we will reconsider the ranking.

I'm excited about Shorikai, Genesis Engine, the first artifact commander, I wonder how is it a Tier-3 commander? is that because of in-built card advantage? 1 mana for one card is ok but not great, or because of some combo?

A very useful list! Thanks for updating it. In my opinion, Iname, Death Aspect, should be in a better tier category than Jank/Trash.
That ability to put as many Spirits as you want into your graveyard? That's rather useful! It makes cards like Patriarch's Bidding and Living Death put literally every creature in your deck onto the battlefield. Being in mono-black gives you ritual access and you can tutor for these pieces.
I recommend bumping Iname, Death Aspect up to either low or mid power. It's quite comparable to other cards in those levels like say, Balthor the Defiled.

I'm actually thinking he might deserve to be higher. I was playing with an Incomplete list last night and it was doing quite well. Yeah you only net 1 card but your actually drawing two, you can discard any card from your hand so the draw feels much more impact full. Also the fact that the commander is a vehicle is a huge advantage that shouldn't be underestimated. I was dodging so much removal thanks to that and being able to use the ability right away felt that much better. Also even making the pilots felt nice and gave plenty of crewing options on its own

Thanks, Eternal77, currently I'm planning on build some Ux high power (aka power level 8) monster commanders, including Galazeth Prismari, Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait, Toxrill, the Corrosive and maybe Shorikai, Genesis Engine
By the way, in "Strixhaven & Commander 2021", it says the "Galazeth Prismari = Cool new Izzet commander who can break parity with cards like Stasis Trinisphere, pretty similiar to Urza but way worse!" Trinisphere is really really not a good idea, I mean its ok, but really not worse the slot

Why is Isshin so low? I thought he was fringe competitive commander.
April 18, 2022 5:10 p.m.
I feel Isshin is low because not enough combo and value, besides, high power is not low

Jack_83: Thanks for the compliment, but when you're able to win all these games with a budget Light-Paws deck, then I can 100% say, that you're not playing in a competitive pod. Like you said, he's a fast and high powered commander, who's especially strong in 1vs1 matches, but this tierlist is about Multiplayer-Commander from a competitive point of view.
legendofa: Nath was especially strong in the Hullbreacher/Wheel-meta, but after the Hullbreacher ban, the deck got way worse. And yes, that's correct. There are many better Golgari commanders today like Gitrog, Grist, Dina, Belbe, Meren, Hapatra etc.
Nonary27: Shorikai is a very powerful commander, he can break parity with cards like Humility and Boardwipes, since he isn't a creature. He's also a combo outlet for Dramatic Scepter and Hullbreaker Horror.

Why is Breena higher than Queen Marchesa and Marisi? What does she do?
April 21, 2022 12:57 a.m.
Thanks smilodex, Shorikai seems very fun but nowadays everyone brings artifact removals, besides, Humility effect is good but I feel it still kinda stop your own plan, anyway, I will make a deck to try golden fish, which direction you suggest I go? Vehicle? Combo? something else?

I'd remove the blurb of text in the description about "Zendikar expedition spoilers and commander legends", that belongs in updates not the main description text where it stays forever

When did Queen Marchesa drop to mid power? She still seem really good
May 1, 2022 7:24 p.m.
SpirosTzwras how is Teferi tier 4, he neither has any combo nor generates any value

Every time I've seen Iname it's like a 7-9 and is actually really gross. It's not jank or trash it's a combo deck that tends to otk. Conspiracy lets you entomb every creature in your deck giving you Razaketh and Gary lines. The deck can with on turn 3; trash tier decks don't have turn 3 outs.....

How do you guys feel about streets of new capenna and battle for baldur's gate commanders?
June 2, 2022 7:19 p.m.
Nonary27 There are a lot of competitive/fringe competitive commanders in both sets.
New Capenna
Lagrella, the Magpie serves as Fiend Hunter in the command zone, letting you do sacrifice combos with Karmic Guide. She'll probably end up somewhere close to Saffi Eriksdotter.
Cormela, Glamour Thief combos with reanimator spells like Footsteps of the Goryo as long as you have cost reduction cards like Goblin Electromancer or a sac outlet that generates mana. I think she's pretty strong. Anhelo, the Painter is a grixis version of Kalamax, the Stormsire. Probably the best of the new Grixis commanders. Evelyn, the Covetous is weaker than it looks. I don't think there is an infinite blink/flicker/cloning combo piece that's also a vampire. Probably not better than Vela the Night-Clad, even with the extra color. Lord Xander, the Collector has a big impact on casual tables, but is nowhere near as relevant in competitive play. Would put him somewhere close to Evelyn.
Falco Spara, Pactweaver is an okay value engine, but you have to jump through extra hoops to go infinite with it compared to Elsha of the Infinite, so it will be a few tiers lower than Elsha. Rigo, Streetwise Mentor has to compete with Edric, Spymaster of Trest, they want to do more or less the same thing. I'm not sure if Rigo is better or worse.
Ognis, the Dragon's Lash does the same as Grand Warlord Radha. You get an extra color, but have the restriction regarding haste in exchange. Henzie "Toolbox" Torre is just a bad Grim Haruspex that can serve as pseudo-haste-enabler. Not weak, but also not very strong. Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer is a Wargate for creatures in the command zone. Might be the strongest Naya legend to date, although Marath, Will of the Wild is no joke either. Jolene, the Plunder Queen enables untap combos with Black Market Tycoon, but it just ends up being a much worse version of the Freed from the Real combos that other commanders can do.
None of the others are worth mentioning imo.
Commander Legends 2
Abdel Adrian, Gorion's Ward is similar to Lagrella, all about Fiend Hunter-type flicker/sacrifice combos. Candlekeep Sage is probably the best background for it. Alaundo the Seer is a simic version of Jhoira of the Ghitu, except that it's slower, but also draws cards. Bhaal, Lord of Murder is more or less an Odric's Outrider in the command zone, but that it only counts for nontoken creatures means you can't combo with Scurry Oak, so it's probably not that great. I think Duke Ulder Ravengard combos with Port Razer?
Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy sort of gives all your instants & sorceries flashback, which is usually very powerful. Not sure how good it ends up being in practice however. Ganax, Astral Hunter is basically just Galazeth Prismari. Kagha, Shadow Archdruid is yet another Golgari recursion commander, which are usually at least decent. Jan Jansen, Chaos Crafter goes infinite with Clock of Omens and Liquimetal Coating.
Baba Lysaga, Night Witch, Bane, Lord of Darkness, Dynaheir, Invoker Adept, Gorion, Wise Mentor and Jaheira, Friend of the Forest have a lot of combo potential, but I'm not sure how to break them yet.
June 10, 2022 3:12 p.m.
Thanks, Sephyrias, currently I'm thinking about making a Jaheira, Friend of the Forest deck, this card makes many underplayed cards like Gingerbread Cabin become very good, still picking the background, there is no background really impress me, Cloakwood Hermit seems decent but mono green means the fewer option
Also, I'm planning on getting a Captain N'ghathrod deck and making some small change, is there any good cheap cards should put in that deck?
At last, I wonder how is Ganax, Astral Hunter like Galazeth Prismari? I thought Galazeth is more like make artifacts rather than use etb

I have a legit complaint about this list: A 5 color deck with no commander at all is most certainly a CEDH deck. Tier 1. So why would Atogatog be low in the list? The same goes for a Grixis list, or even a Dimir list... As long as they have access to Demonic Consultation, Thassa's Oracle, Underworld Breach, dockside, brain freeze, etc, these decks can run without a commander at a CEDH table and do just fine.
June 15, 2022 10:22 p.m.
This is not a Commander DECK tier list, but a COMMANDER tier list. Also please read the Tier description. A 5c Commander that provides no value to the deck is not a cEDH viable commander. It's strictly a worse option than other existing 5c commanders, which is not sense of cEDH. It's just meme-ing. Color identity is only one of many aspects when assessing a commander.
June 16, 2022 2:15 p.m.
I see your point Eisenherz. But it might be good to help people understand how certain decklists or specific cards in general are so high power that they could turn a low-tier commander into a cEDH deck... I've heard lots of arguments from people playing low-tiers with Thassa's oracle and Demonic Consultation saying "But I'm playing Tier 5!!", when this is definitely not true, their decklist is Tier 1. Maybe just a simple explanation of this concept would be helpful.

Ok, you have Tatsunari, Toad Rider in Mid Power. Let's look at this Commander. First of all, it's Sultai - the 3 best colors giving it access to Thassa's Oracle/Pact/Consult and Hermit Druid lines. Just that alone on a vanilla creature makes it better than 'Mid Power'. A one creature version of this deck with Hullbreaker Horror + Proteus Staff + Polymorph can get infinite mana quickly and bounce and enchantment over and over for the win - because it has an outlet for infinite damage in the command zone and having access to black tutors makes it better at Polytyrant than most other blue lists - which again makes it better than 'Mid Power.' It's Fringe Competitive easily.
