Hi, I'm wondering how effective or what tier you guys think Wulfgar of Icewind Dale is or would be, I don't know if enough testing has been done or the card just hasn't been fully evaluated yet but it's a deck I'm pretty excited to build and was wondering what the power level would be.

Hi, just wanted to ask when the missing commanders from Forgotten Realms are coming.

Love the list, I check it often. Just wondering, where does Asmodeus the Archfiend stand?
July 31, 2021 6:02 p.m.
So far he looks like a pretty competetive commander, but we don't think he's better than K'rrik.

I kind of get the feeling that he best thing you can do with Asmodeus the Archfiend is to activate his ability a bunch of times and while they're on the stack then to sacrifice him. So to be honest, he feels more like Razaketh, the Foulblooded (since Griselbrand lives up to his Griselbanned name) who sees much more play IN decks than leading them.

I just realized that Tiamat can win with Food Chain. She should have a slot in "fringe competitive" considering Maelstrom Wanderer is up there.

I know you guys don't want to rate the Walking Dead Commanders, but I find it a bit unfair to people who come here and may want to build them, not to mention most of them are relatively cheap as hell given the over-purchase of them (The most purchased lair out there) making a nice healthy supply.
Either way, I looked around and according to your list they would be ranked as follows:
Glen, the Voice of Calm - Tier 2 (Competitive)
Negan, the Cold-Blooded - Tier 3 (Fringe)
Rick, Steadfast Leader - Tier 4 (High Power)
Daryl, Hunter of Walkers - Tier 4 (High Power)
Michonne, Ruthless Survivor - Tier 5 (Mid Power)
Now you guys will never have to rank them, unless you want to, and players who want to run them can know. Although Rick is technically a much better 99 piece, which makes him about two (Maybe even 3) tiers more valuable in a human tribal deck (Hence his higher price tag).

Chainer, Nightmare adept should be put into "Fringe Competitive" category. The deck can go wild fast, and it has many combo potentials, tutors, resource denial possibilities, it uses graveyard and lots of removal.

Since we started this Tierlist, the number of high powered commanders has doubled. Wotc brings out set after set, which means that there can be very large differences per category. We have therefore decided to introduce one or two additional categories or additional tiers. We are currently working on it, but we cannot say exactly when it will be so far, but you can be curious.

Curious about Veyran only being in high power. Seems like she could be bumped up to Tier 3 with all the magecraft type cards commonly in the deck and the potential combos with infinite spell copies. Cards, Mana, damage, etc. Could be missing something though and just mainly to get your reasoning. Nice list!

@Steelghost9: Veyran, Voice of Duality is a pretty strong commander and of the best of the high powered ones, but he isn't a part of a combo, he doesn't generate value and he really doesn't do a lot without other cards... He's a strong enabler but nothing more.

@smilodex: Yea she mostly enables other cards for sure. Voltron stuff isnt the best either, but there are lot of copy card combinations/furystorm that can get infinite P/T for a turn to knock someone out pretty quickly. So there is an infinite combo, but not the win on the spot kind we typically refer to. Plus while its not hard, she still needs some type of unblockable to go along with that.

She is still better than things like Grumgully and a few others in Tier 3. Probably on par with Rootha

The problem with Veyran, Voice of Duality is that while getting extra triggers is nice, most of the time if you're using effects like Guttersnipe then you're looking to assemble an infinite combo anyway, so additional triggers are much less relevant. Additionally, as smilodex mentioned, voltron is not an overly powerful strategy as you can only K/O one player at a time (short of extra turn spells).
That being said, if you've got a decklist in mind which can showcase her, that's generally the best way to get a commander bumped up in the list, as it provides a lot more context.

no your right about Vultron for sure and I mentioned that. Im not a fan of Vultron at all to be honest, its just there for when it works with her. Just participating/starting convo about interesting newer commanders :). Well and I dont play cEDH just higher power EDH. Sure I have a list I just finished on if you ever want to look at it. Lacks things like Mana crypt, but pretty optimized besides that. Working on Prosper next lol ):) I guess what I like about her is that with double triggers, or triple with harmonic protegy for MH2, you can win off value while trying to go infinite with one of the MANY ways with copy triggers. Not that other spell slingy/storm/copy decks cant to the same thing while having a more combo involved commander.

Golos ban, only 6 titans remain, and really only 5 as Thrasios/Kraum isn't so much of a deck, leaving Codie, Kenrith, Thrasios/Tymna, Tymna/Kraum, and Najeela.

After the Golos Ban we want to hear your opinion about the ban.
Please take part in the survey, that would help us a lot!

Why Uril is on mid and Sigarda/Rafiq/Ojutai is on high?
September 16, 2021 6:06 a.m.
Hey everyone,
thanks for being patient with us. It took us quiet some time, but we finally updated the Tier list up to Tier 4 "Fringe Competitive". We reorganized the tiers and made a few changes. Some commanders moved up, some moved down. Please remember that this is not a definitive list. We try to be as objective as possible, but of course we too have our biases.
Going forward we will add a few more Tiers to have a more nuanced ranking, but this will definitely take some time, since there are just so so many commanders to analyze.
- Titans
- Top Tier
- Highly Competitive
- Competitive
- Fringe Competitive
- High Power
- Mid Power
- Low Power
- Supoptimal
- Jank
If you have any suggestions or constructive input, please don't hesitate to comment.

I think that Anowon had its rightful place in "Fringe Competitive" in the old list. Anowon tempo/control graveyard denial is a strong deck and it also has inner coherence.

Huanor: Becuase Uril is not as good as the commanders. Sigarda provides not only hexproof but protection against sacrifice effects, which is Uril's biggest weakness. Ojutai still provides hexproof but also provides card advantage on a stick, as well as having access to blue for counterspells. Sigarda and Ojutai also have a built in form of evasion, which Uril does not. Rafiq offers no protection but naturally swings in for 8 damage a turn, making him a 3 turn clock. He also has access to both ramp (in green) AND countermagic (in blue), making him probably the strongest of the three. Additionally, all of these 3 commanders can use enchantments, however are not lockedinto using enchantments. Uril on the other hand relies on enchantments, meaning that he is much more fragile to board wipes.
ErgoLux: Do you have an Anowon list you could share?

taken from the Godo Primer:
Back-up Plans What happens if plan A goes sideways? If Godo gets countered or killed, we simply recast him and try again. The deck ramps pretty hard, so getting the command tax should be possible unless most of your initial mana came from rituals. If helm ends up in the yard, we do have some recursion sources. We can Gamble for any of them (maybe), Imperial Recruiter for Goblin Welder, Expedition Map for Buried Ruin or use Inventor’s Fair for Expedition map.
If Helm is exiled, either through a Praetor's Grasp or graveyard removal following a Nature's Claim, we can use Karn, the Great Creator to grab Helm out of exile.
If we are unable to use Helm for our win, we move to a backup plan of beating with Godo. Argentum Armor can pressure life totals quickly and nuke problem permanents or blockers. It even adds a bit if resilience in the main combo, tutorable for free to the battlefield with Godo and equipped free after Hammer of Nazahn during the middle of the combo. From there it gets two chances to destroy combo stoppers like Glacial Chasm and Propaganda type effects or other oddball stuff we didn't count on.
Again, please note – this is a combo deck, NOT a Voltron deck. We are way too tight on card slots to bother with anything more than one other backup tutorable equipment. Unless Helm is gone for good, any of these equipment backups are basically dead draws on their own. We do run Conqueror's Flail, however this isn't a backup win condition to be searched up with Godo. Instead, flail is protection for the main combo.
