No Biomancer? Tsk tsk. Forget Vorel of the Hull Clade , Corpsejack Menace and Master Biomancer are much better friends!
It's a cool deck though, I second what underbrl said, get rid of the Axebane Guardian , if you're looking for something that does a similar thing but for 2CMC instead (because realistically, you can only ever count on getting Axebane Guardian to produce X as 1 mana in a game) try Manaweft Sliver
What I'd really recommend though is getting rid of the guardians and slapping a hefty lump of Biomancer in there!
+1 for +1/+1's
Shameless plug for my deck based around a very similar combo: Heavy Creature Heavy (Rotation-Proof)

Yeah, Axebane Guardian really just is a cheap alternative for fixing. I also considered Farseek and Birds of Paradise for fixing but I figured those won't evolve Cloudfin Raptor or Gyre Sage on Turn 3. Of course better alternatives are to be prefered if once I get more money.
Thanks for the upvotes either way. :D

Experiment One is probably a better fit than Cloudfin Raptor . Just a WAY stronger 1 drop evolve creature.

I agree with MikeLaserbeam, where are the Master Biomancer s? They would be awesome in this build.

For casual reasons, I'd like to keep this deck on a budget. I do though understand that Master Biomancer may be a better pick over Vorel of the Hull Clade but replacing him will give me a lack of evolve triggers on turn 3.
I just feel more comfortable using Vorel.

Does ur mana get ok all the time? I mean u got nothing to pick ur colors so u jsut gotte hope u draw the right lands...
other than that, +1

I currently use Axebane Guardian as a fixer that replaces Gyre Sage since I usually just play multiplayer with friends. Multiple copies on the board do wonders for my mana in the long run of the games.
I am planning to get a set of Sylvan Caryatid though. It made my mana base consistent enough in testing.

Fun, I was looking through Corpsejack Menace when I was trying to make a Fungus Tribal, but he is more fit for this stuff.

Have you considered Savageborn Hydra ? He'd work well in here, and if you remove Primordial Hydra to put him in, this deck would be Standard legal (and probably very effective). I also think that Gyre Sage would be an absolute monster in this deck. Early game, he ramps. Mid to late game, he ramps. Maybe consider Renegade Krasis as well. With a Master Biomancer out, he'll evolve basically any time you play a creature, which will make the next creature you play even bigger, which will evolve him again etc. Also has good synergy with Progenitor Mimic .

TitansFTW, I'm not sure if the deck can splash in another color with Savageborn Hydra when I already rely heavily on Sylvan Caryatid just for fixing. I may as well just replace Primordial Hydra with Renegade Krasis to make it standard legal. Thank you for pointing out its usefulness.
I actually also used Gyre Sage before I replaced it with Sylvan Caryatid . I found that Sage didn't accelerate me fast enough to lay down my 4-drops on turn 3 and I was severely needing fixing due to the lack of dual lands. Sooner of later though, I may re-consider if I ever get over my cheapness to buy scry and shock lands. Thanks for the suggestions.

Sorry, I thought that Savageborn Hydra had hybrid mana in the mana cost for some reason. Pardon my stupidity.

Wowzers, this deck looks fun. I'm going to have to playtest it. Excellent use of sideboarding btw. also, Primordial Hydra is no longer standard. Also: how useful are you finding Progenitor Mimic in actual play? I can't even make that dude work in EDH in a deck semi-themed around copying. I can't say I'm finding myself with lots of suggestions here btw, except of course Breeding Pool and/or Simic Guildgate , but I'm sure you're excluding them for budget reasons.
October 14, 2013 7:21 p.m.
Grimgrinner, its won me a fair share of games by either making more of Master Biomancer or copies of the opponent's threats. It helps me maintain a strong board advantage late game once it gets going.
Primordial Hydra is just in the maybeboard for casual purposes. I just love it to hell.

did you seriously reference the song "Titanium"! ANYWAYS... have you thought of Bioshift , move so crazy counters onto a biomancer for some crazy more counters.

not only what Droxium said, but you can even use Bioshift during the damage step (i.e if they let one of your dude through) and Bioshift your counters like a makeshift Giant Growth , but permanent. Though I can't justify taking any of your cards slots for it.
October 15, 2013 1:36 a.m.
Droxium, I've ran Bioshift before. One problem I encountered with it was that 4x were dead draws most of the time and 2x felt unreliable as a combat trick so I figured if I wanted more counters on Master Biomancer for a 2x slot, I'd rather just have more copies on the board, hence 2x Progenitor Mimic .
It was really hard weighing the pros and cons of both cards but I felt Progenitor Mimic had more versatility since I run quite a bit of removal already and Prophet of Kruphix allows me to flash it in as late as possible in the opponent's turn so I have at least 2 copies of my core creatures or my opponent's best threats.

personally i would put in Breeding Pool , Overgrown Tomb in place of your some of your 4 forests and 2 swamps and 2 islands to supplement for the shock lands, because the problem i noticed with this deck is the fact that you don't get the right lands for each of the

i would also think about putting in Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord since you have so many creatures that are going to get huge with Corpsejack Menace and the Master Biomancer

also i think you need some way of card draw so i would recommend Fathom Mage since with the way you can get so many counter and evolves it would really would be a good fit

jeffhennen, if he added Fathom Mage and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord , he would have waay to many 4-drops. though i could see either of them replacing Progenitor Mimic . because even as a 2-of, 6 mana should be "I'm about to win, probably this turn" in an aggressive standard deck, not "hey this could make me win next turn, if my combo is set up right". The "it's won me a couple games before" isn't the same as "consistently helps my deck every match". Oh and I like the synergy between Corpsejack Menace and Fathom Mage .

but for a for sure thing that he needs to do is put in those Overgrown Tomb and Breeding Pool

otherwise i would think about Zameck Guildmage for the removal of counters to get more draw power and get a card advantage

it seems though the comments are getting a little less "how to improve this build" and a little more "how i would do a similar build but make it different" (some of mine included)

i love this idea in casual play :) i would just say, drop all 4 Axebane Guardian and put in 4 Primordial Hydra , and mayb the 2 Zephyr Charge for 2 Bioshift
