Thank you for your suggestions. I'm not going for a straight up burn deck, but something that showcases the power of the color red. To me, it's haste, goblins, dragons, and burn. I'll be playing against a new player, so I want to keep the power level low.

This look like a very solid starter deck, great way to learn all the rules. maybe Encroaching Wastes or Evolving Wilds (mono red doesn't need it), just to get show your new player some non-basic land use? just a thought.

I understand about training a new player. I do believe that your mana base is a bit too large. I have a deck that spams large creatures at 6-8 mana with lands only, and has only 22 lands. Considering that most of your cards are relatively low in mana cost, i think 20 or 22 lands would be better. Your two extra lands could be replaced with the cheap Raging Goblin .

Wargoat47 Awesome suggestion. I think I'll find four of a land that taps for red but adds some benefit. Like the one that gives a creature +2/+0 when it comes into play.
magnaboss I didn't think about that, but your right. There are too many lands for such a low cc deck. Until I get a couple more young pyromancers while drafting, I think I'll replace two mountains with Rummaging Goblin s in case the game goes long. Thank you!

I don't want to make a useless comment, but the land that gives a creature +2/+0 when it comes into play is Teetering Peaks .

So the green deck pretty much just destroys this deck. Anyone have any suggestions on how to improve this deck?

He's too expensive, unfortunately. Im already around $15. There are only 3 dragons in the deck if you do not count the dragn eggs.

After play testing, I'm not happy with Dragon Egg . It just doesn't do enough vs any deck. White will just fly over it and green will smash through it. Any suggestions for a 2-4cc creature?

I think Lightning Bolt is an excellent replacement to Searing Spear . Half the mana cost for equal damage. It costs a little less than a dollar. I believe that your mana curve is a bit too high for a burn deck. Lava Spike is an excellent burn to players for its mana cost. Although Lava Axe is a popular burn spell, Thunderous Wrath is more effective. Sure, it costs more mana if you didn't miracle it, but miracle-ing it makes it one of the best burn spells. If you want to play more creatures, Spark Elemental is practically a burn spell. Hellspark Elemental costs one more mana, but you can use it a second time.
