Cicjose, What would you remove to put in Collected Company? I want to put at least two in the deckbut can't think of what to remove.

Touch of Moonglove personally, but you also would need to add extra lands which i think you could take Thornbow Archer out for

Why you play Gilt-Leaf Winnower's and Eyeblight Massacre in mainboard? You should add at least 2 Thornbow Archer and third Obelisk

Ahh. I see. you use Woodland Bellower instead of Chord of Calling. Nice.

Shepherdofire, Chord of Calling is adds more price to the deck and I like the Woodland Bellower so thats why I'm not using Chord of Calling.

August 5, 2015 5:17 p.m.

maybe you should put the gnarl root trappers and gilt leaf winnowers in the sideboard and replace them with more elvish visionary and elvish mystics

August 7, 2015 6:32 p.m.

also mabeyy you should put the eye blight massacre and might of the masses in the sideboard

How has this elves deck been working out for you? I'm also playing elves and my games are going way long, often because I have a hard time getting anything through after the first few turns. Has the Obelisk helped?

OK, first off I am not perfect, but I did manage to win game day with my elves deck. G/B Elves (Game Day Winner)

Personally, I am not a huge fan of the Thornbow Archer. I believe the Gnarlroot Trappers help push through a lot more of the damage with the deathtouch ability.

I like Sylvan Messenger and Woodland Bellower, but one major problem with them is that they are over the 3 cmc and aren't hit by Collected Company. I've seen a lot of people say you either go the messenger route or you go the Collected Company route. I go the CoCo route, but I have Messengers and Bellowers in my sideboard for games where my opponent has a lot of mass removal.

Most games, my win condition is blasting them with Shaman of the pack, so i like to have as many ways as possible to get him out, so i run 3 Chord of Calling over the Obelisks.

Also, if you run more Gnarlroots, you can drop a few lands

August 10, 2015 5:12 p.m.

To start, Rytontym, I have not made this deck yet. I am in the makings of it but I am using the play-test to work out how the deck functions. Also the Obelisks are very good, I always have plenty of elves for the convoke and they make my elvish mystics/elvish visionaries and really everything else more formidable. Second, Vinenoob, I put the gnarlroot trappers on my sideboard in case my opponent has big creatures, I could see why he would be good main-board but that's my preference. Another preference is that the thornbow archer has helped me. I can play him turn one and more often than not he deals the extra damage for the opponent not having an elf. The Sylvan messenger along side the Coco seems to work fine for me but I will probably need to take you're advice on that and change them. The Woodland bellower on the other hand seems to work just fine because he gets me an elf and is a threat on his own, though if he gets in the way he will be removed. Thanks to both of you for the advice/question, I really appreciate it!

I'm with you, Mahogany, when it comes to the Thornbow Archer - I usually get 4 points of damage in before my opponent takes out my first Thornwood. But Vinenoob has some good points too about CoCo. Chord of Calling sounds good, but I'd have to get six mana up to use it, right? I guess that's not that hard with the gnarlroots and mystics, though.

Interesting thoughts on the Obelisk. When you have the deck up and running let us know how it fares!

Chord of Calling, in my experience, is super easy to set off. Don't forget that it is convoke and instant. More often than not, you can turn one Mystic or Gnarlroot, turn two another mystic or gnarlroot plus Dwynen's elite. By turn three you could (although I usually dont) Chord of Calling for seven, even though you only need six. Plus, Chord of Calling has the added benefit of being able to search for Reclamation Sage (Which i just realized you don't have and recommend a few at least for sideboard, though I run a few mainboard). This can totally shut down B/U artifacts and also kills Courser of Kruphix.

August 10, 2015 11:58 p.m.

I have to say the two of you have made me reconsider my thoughts on chord of calling and gnarlroot trapper. I changed the deck up a little bit, moving stuff from side to main board etc, so tell me if you think I made the right edits. Also I just forgot about reclamation sage until you mentioned it so its definitely going on the sideboard, I was thinking of naturalize at first but this does the same thing and is an elf. Thanks again and tell me what you thought of the edits!

I like the updated deck. But there's no kill spells mainboarded?

August 11, 2015 12:27 p.m.

Doriboncore, I left a comment on you're decklist just so you know (Incase you didn't see). Rytontym, I don't feel too confident about the lack of kill spells but they went to the board so I can just flood tthe board with elves even quicker and I can side board them in if something my opponant plays is an issue, though I would like to have some main board.

I feel Back to Nature is great in your sideboard

Thanks qwertyking, I forgot about that card. As you can see back to nature now has its rightful place on my board.

I sexually Identify as a badrat. Ever since I was a boy I dreamed of soaring over the litterbox and dropping hot sticky loads on disgusting cats. People say to me that a person being a badrat is Impossible and Im ing but I dont care, Im beautiful. Im having a plastic surgeon install a tail, ears and AMG-114 Hellfire missiles on my body. From now on I want you guys to call me squeak and respect my right to kill from above and kill needlessly. If you cant accept me youre a ratphobe and need to check your rodent privilege. Thank you for being so understanding.

Similar to my elf deck. Since you are thinning the deck with Collected Company and Chord of Calling which are pulling creatures from your deck, you might want to run a few fetch lands to thin your deck of lands so you are more likely to pull a threat late game.

@doriboncore I would play fetches but the deck is expensive, I still am trying to get cards for it, and I'm broke.

Totally understandable....I would run four Collected Companys in my elf deck but I only own two... sucks that magic can be so expensive.
