The deck is meant to power up Lumberknot , by feeding it tokens from Awakening Zone, Nest Invader, and Kozilek's Predator through the Spawning Pits. The Rancors are there to help carry over the damage, while the Grave Pacts are there to help bring down any creatures in your way and the Dreg Mangler s and Corpsejack Menaces tie the whole deck together. The other cards Putrefy , Golgari Charm , and Birds of Paradise are there for removal, some utility, and mana fixing. The Dreg Mangler s and Strangleroot Geists are there for early damage and as an extra way to get in damage if the Lumberknot s are not on the board or are still bulking up.
