I had an idea for Heartless Summoning now that Crypt Ghast is a thing. Demons are easy to cast, and alone they can do a lot of work, but together they are almost unstoppable.
When I first saw Crypt Ghast my first thought was what could I do with 10 mana on turn 5. My best answer was Griselbrand and have 1 floating after extort. Then I came across Lord of the Void. This card seemed jut janky enough to be fun. So I threw together a little fun deck. My biggest problem I was having was that it wasn't resilient enough against even the weakest of aggro decks. And honestly, control could beat it to. It was a great match up against other Midrange decks and it did pretty well against Reanimator, but that wasn't enough to justify playing this. I had to make some changes to see if this deck could be a little more competitive.
So I needed something a little faster. Then Heartless Summoning came to mind. This meant, with 3 mana I could cast Heartless on turn 2, and Crypt Ghast on turn 3. Then anything in my deck would be playable.
This deck seemed like the perfect janky fun. And it was. I then started putting better cards into it. Now it functions really well at my LGS in FNM.
I decided to splash Green for Vraska and sideboard Abrupt Decay. Vraska was an essential catch all that could remove anything that wasn't a land. And Abrupt Decay could just beat a lot of decks and blowing up Detention Sphere was super relevant against control.
This deck won a lot of FNM's and rarely flopped. It was by far my favorite deck to ever play and i'll never forget it or love it less.
