my buddy runs a similar deck minus the mutavault and jace, i must say this deck build is def a hard one to beat. +1 also im in the process of building a mono black with a splash of blue for ashiok. but i feel like i might need more counter spells but dont know what to take out. think you could take a look. thanks

I'm curious as to how this is your version of mono-blue when the list is just stock mono-blue with no changes?

Originally I was running things like Archetype of Imagination , Wall of Frost , and Fated Infatuation mainboard but wound up changing it simply to learn the deck before I tried to do anything wacky with it. Just never went and changed the description. So the answer is it's not, but I'm not updating the description until after this week's FNM.

You said you were looking for different decks to play well while not having any blue in it my deck may fit what you are looking for White red Creature burn just an idea I had unfornetly I am missing about twenty of the cards to build it so if you like it and can build it let me know how it goes. I love mono blue though.

Yep, that's me, haha. And yeah, there's no real effective way for mono blue to deal with Mistcutter Hydra . Really the only options you have are using Rapid Hybridization on your own creature to get a green blocker, chump blocking with a Mutavault , or overloading a Cyclonic Rift and clearing their board.

What you could do is splash black in there for things like Doom Blade or Ultimate Price in the sideboard. Just 3 or 4 Watery Grave s and 4 Temple of Deceit s are fine for something like that, I think. That's the one big hole in this deck, though, is Mistcutter Hydra .
