Commander: foil Dragonlord Dromoka

Advice is welcome!

WAR IS PEACE

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY

IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

Arashin is at war with Screamreach and allied with Gudul. Therefore, Arashin has always been at war with Screamreach and Gudul has ever been our faithful comrade. To say otherwise would be heresy...

A successful Five-Year Plan:

Life under Dromoka's rule is bountiful; overfulfilment of the five-year plans are common and statistics for living conditions for the steppe only ever go up.

Gone are the days of aristocrats and voltron capitalists, our Benevolent Leader gives fair rewards to each of her studious subjects! Although some are more equal than others.

Piloting the deck.

The main aim of this deck is straightforward growth. With small tastes of pillowfort and mana-ramping archetypes to lend a helping hand in the early game.

Politics are present in the pilot's timing of triggers and ordering of the stack; however in most scenarios, the deck's political engine will take a back-seat after the board presence begins to provoke attacks.

This is where damage absorption and minimisation comes in, Maze of Ith can provide the crucial barrier between yourself and a troublesome General. Mother of Runes gives protection from targeted attacks. Yosei creates a considerable deterrent to an opponent with stronger creatures.

Boardwipes are not fun, that is primarily why I don't run any. Regardless, boardwipes will happen in Commander and Dromoka must do all she can to limit the damage of a boardwipe spell. Fanatical Devotion should be searched-for early in the game, if opponents seem the likely sort to use dastardly boardwipes: sacrificing an insignificant bodyguard can ensure the Great Leader survives unharmed. In addition, protection offered by the Mirran Swords can give a decent armour to survive nukes.

Lifegain is the core of this deck, admittedly, it will make a target of you in multiplayer but counter-generating synergy of Archangel, Scales and Season can make your creatures very big and your life total sufficiently large to dig in and start slogging it out with old-fashioned creature combat.
