Those are really the only things I can suggest without changing the theme of the deck. Love the idea man and good luck with deck!

You need some ways to cope with flying creatures.

If Twin gives you trouble then Black is the stronger splash. How's your Affinity match up? That's what will improve with a red splash.

Mono-White-Man i am considering putting Plummet into the sideboard for this reason. i do have Beast Within to help take care of flying threats as well as others and turn them into something that i can in fact deal with. if you have any suggestions that won't dilute the decks power i am all ears

most of the time when it comes to flyers i end up just racing them, and depending on the situation i have enough power and pumps to get the job done.

APPLE01DOJ there is no affinity in my local meta, at least not that i have played against at least, so i am not sure how it fairs. i know that green does have a ton of artifact hate, though. do you know what the best options are? what's that one green card, "destroy all artifacts?"

Creeping Corrosion

Red has Shatterstorm though.

Black will give you the discard package and Abrupt Decay which will sway the Twin match to being more favorable but you'll need Liliana of the Veil to fully utilize the splash. ...and at that point you might as well buy Dark Confidant and Tarmogoyf...

splashing black for lilly and goyf and bob..yikes

those three are unfortunately way out of my budget at the moment, especially goyf lol.

i do think Creeping Corrosion needs to go in my sideboard though, for sure.

This is incredible. When I get into modern, this will be what I first build.

It's good vs lantern control and 8rack too.

Arronator thanks! It's a ton of fun to play as well.

APPLE01DOJ that's another fine point. Adding to the maybe board while I figure out what comes out of my sideboard for it.

I feel like Rancor and Experiment One could have a place here! Great deck +1

Consider -4x Overrun and -4x Vines of Vastwood - put them in the SB and add 4x Rancor and 4x Experiment One. E1 works so well with Strangleroot Geist and increasing the creature base will help your Collected Company hit more often.

Thanks Acid_Drop! I actually had plans to test Rancor in the place of Overrun with some friends tomorrow. Also, I have been considering ex1 but feel it conflicts with my t1 hierarch into 7 damage t2 from groundbreaker with exalted line.

I would love to try ex1 though . I like where I am headed and the deck is essentially a 4 turn clock right now, but my fear is that adding ex1 will slow me down a turn or two. What are your thoughts?

Experiment One into Strangleroot Geist into Groundbreaker is still a 4 turn clock. Also, 9 times out of 10 in a deck that tries to win through immediate damage opposed to going wide with a lot of creatures, Rancor is going to be better than Overrun.

Considering I don't play modern very often take what u say with a grain of salt. I would like to add that I play tested the deck a bit with rancor over overrun and it actually helped me when the games went longer because of the large threat. It allowed me to stall my opponents into forcing them to attack, and it kept a permanent fatty with slight recursion. On the E1 front, I don't see any problem with putting it in, because it does help the long game position by having a large guy that sticks around, and a decent early game attacker.

I am sure other people have mentioned this, but cutting the deck down to 60 cards would be ideal so that you can get slightly more consistency and better draws overall. I would suggest taking out, for example, one of the Aspect of Hydra. You still have plenty of pump spells, and 3 is no worse really than 4, since it is situationally good as a pump. Hornet Sting can actually take care of some important guys in modern, such as Delver of Secrets  Flip, and bob, or as he is known Dark Confidant. Just an idea, not to mention some "burn"" for the deck, lol. Also, Guttural Response is always fun in green if you end up playing the control control deck in your match ups.

The percentage difference between 60 and 61 cards is negligible, but thanks for the suggestion. I have played hundreds of games with this deck, with both 60 and 61, and in any given scenario it never made a difference. the math says the difference in drawing a specific card in 60 vs 61 is less than seven hundredth of a percent over 100 games..so I'm not worried.

As for Guttural Response, it's already in my sideboard for any match against blue, along with choke. I am actually experimenting with Overgrown Tomb and Stomping Ground so I can run Lightning Bolt and Abrupt Decay in my sideboard.

Grizzly I think part of the appeal of this deck is that it's not only good, but it's also cheap comparatively to a lot of modern decks. I think if you added a bunch of duals in so you can run some other colors/cards it'd be diluting part of the draw :)My suggestion is that if you do decide to do that, make a copy of this one and edit it so that it includes those cards. However it's your deck, so it's up to you.

Arronator I definitely plan to keep this deck mono green. The version I am working on that splashes colors in the board is going to have a slightly different game plan, but still revolve around mono green creatures

That being said, thanks for the compliment =)

Would Savage Summoning be something to consider demonicgrizzly?

January 30, 2016 9:13 a.m.

BlackKnight_02 this could be useful, what is your thought? I can see its usefulness but it seems very situational and might take away from the deck as it is now.

I would be more interested in a replacement two-drop for kalonian tusker.

January 30, 2016 12:43 p.m.

I'm sorry, demonicgrizzly, i was thinking Savage Summoning as more of a sideboard card. if you are looking for a replacement for Kalonian Tusker, i would suggest Boneyard Wurm could be something with the Groundbreakers and creature removal, or maybe Heir of the Wilds?

January 30, 2016 7:20 p.m.

I like the idea of the wurm but I normally don't get enough creatures in the yard by the time I win, but I do like the idea of Heir of the Wilds. The deathtuch is nice.

Sorry I hadn't seen that guttural response was in there. The testing you are doing/have done, will probably show that it will be good to add those cards in. The removal will be nice for your deck.
