Seems to be a lot of fun to run! Have you played with it yet?

It’s good fun, yeah! Have a bit, mostly against my own decks, which sucks because most of the time it thrashes them and I spent so much more time on them!

But yeah it’s decent, seems to win around turns 6-8; long as you draw a High Alert and Tetsuko you’re generally set. Only thing it lacks currently is card draw; any suggestions would be great :)

Have you considerd adding Assault Formation?

I have, but figured green requires a bit of a rework and honestly doesn’t have quite enough payout; it’s a two-drop which clashes with my other major two drops, and does less of what I want to do, but thank you!

Was tempting to rotate white out for green and run stuff like Arboreal Grazer but I’d be losing all of the punch that white brings.

Could splash for it but I already have two cards that give the same effect and I’m not even running all of them that I could.

Cheers!

Have you considered adding Vizzerdrix? Underated card in my opinion.

Chino90 I'd been considering Wall of Runes, but imo it just doesn't quite make the cut. The added defender means that if you draw Huatli, it'll do good blocking damage but you can't attack early. I like the scry ability, and maybe something similar is needed, but necessarily.

There is a case to be made for swapping some Opts out for it though? This deck does need draw, but potentially the scry is enough - I'll consider it! :)

This is magnificent! What a premise, this deck looks like a well-oiled killing machine. I'll probably have nightmares about it now. Magnificent!

Have you been able to consistently find a way to make your creatures attack with just 5 cards that give them power? It's terrible when you draw the extra copies but you might need to play one more Huatli over a combat trick to be sure. At the very least I would replace Wall of Frost or Dragon's Eye Servants with Aegis Turtle since you want to be smashing your opponent in the face as quickly as possible.

Thanks man! Have taken your advice, think you’re probably right. Will keep it like this for now! Cheers

So i used to run this deck in standard have u looked at yoked ox 1 white mana for a 0 power 4 toughness creature it is cheap it is not a defender so it works with high alert or huatli.

If you need draw, maybe you should consider to add green.

Arcades, the Strategist gives you the needed draw in line with your big defenders and enables them to attack.

Another thing: Your curve ends with cmc 3. You can cut down your lands to 22, maybe to 21, to play more filter like Opt.

Hold the Gate! seems a bit too much here. You have a good aggro plan and have enough unblockable damage, even without it.

Make room for more board presence in the early turns.

omen of the sea is a good scry draw spell and merfolk secret keeper would be great creature in this deck as well he can mill your opponent for 1 blue and u can play the creature for one blue

What about Sidisi's Faithful as a 0/4 or bounce spell and Dusk / Dawn or Slaughter the Strong as one-sided board wipes?

Thanks all for the feedback out of nowhere! Hope my replies aren't too lengthy for you.

Poseidon31 Cheers for the input! I could definitely cut at least one land there, you're totally right - I've tried to stay out of green to just make it more consistent, and because cards in white and blue are already doing most of the things green could. You're very right in saying though that draw is lacking.. really it's my fault for not making better use of the draw blue offers! Hold the Gate! I mostly use for the vigilence it gives - thought since I'm trying super budget, and gates fit the category I'd try wring as much value out of them as possible. You could well be right though, they may suit better as sideboard pieces. I'll think on it, thanks again.

mikeb388 Omen of the Sea is very tempting indeed! Gives me some nice flexibility and a minor mana sink later - will definitely mull it over! Secretkeeper's very nice, but I just feel other creatures suit the early game better - mill's lovely, but without stronger use of it it feels a little underwhelming!

Breakaway I'd considered Sidisi's Faithful for a while, but ultimately I don't have any ETB triggers; a nice trick occassionally but I don't feel worth sacrificing my defence for. Dusk / Dawn and Slaughter the Strong are fantastic recommendations, will strongly strongly consider them, cheers!

Green also gives Tower Defense in addition to the aforementioned options, although I can understand not wanting to go three color with budget mana

Aye, a lovely card but it's probably not quite enough to tip it over the edge - I'll keep an eye on new cards!

Charix, the Raging Isle Would This make a good addition?

Cheers for the feedback SnakeByte77; I’ll absolutely be using Charix, couldn’t believe my eyes when he was spoiled - as for Solid Footing, if I didn’t have Tetsuko it’d be really swell, but as it stands it’d occasionally stop them from actually swinging through because their power would be too high. Thanks all the same!

Turban says... #22

Biggest threat to this deck is anything running deathtouch.

Maybe play Gods Willing over Dive Down as it allows both defensive protection and the ability to attack without being blocked if opponent only has 1 color of defending creatures. Consider Wall of Frost if you can find a place for it.

Corrosive_Cat says... #23

Turban a good point, yes; I’d miss the extra toughness but that’s not a bad idea at all, deathtouch absolutely hoses. I did have Wall of Frost until Charix was spoiled, perhaps I’ll shoehorn it back in though! Cheers!

Massive shoutout to KayperFaux who I somehow bumped into on MTGO, and who recognised the deck! Wacky coincidence, wackier Scute Swarm deck, he got out like 60 of them.

Thoughts on Brave the Sands or swapping out a couple plains for Sejiri Shelter  Flip?
