Hey I knew I've seen your name before, you have this deck, an artifact deck and the mono green combo deck. I saw you had some others too they all look like fun. I've tried something similar to this deck in Standard it was a cool deck.

itsbuzzi ha glad you recognise it! I try to make them a bit unique and quirky, get a real kick out of doing new things or putting a twist on them!

Super Nice list! I'm testing it right now on MTGO
I would suggest Reconnaissance Mission over Bident of Thassa because you can Stack your draws.

Alkxx Amazing, glad to hear it! Good suggestion, and I do like the cycling, but this deck can be surprisingly aggro - I think playing two four-drop enchantments just means I’m already far too slow, and likely dead. Though it does fit better into the budget-friendly nature, cheers for the input!
Am always keen to hear how the deck’s faring - anything you’re finding you would change? At the moment I think my sideboard is pretty unoptimised.
October 18, 2021 6:10 a.m.
yeah, sideboard needs some rework. Have you thinked about adding cards like Dispel Ashes of the Abhorrent or Deafening Silence?? Also i would include 1 High alert and 1 Huatli for grabbing them with Fae of Wishes

Alkxx definitely like the idea of Huatli in sideboard - sadly, you can only have four of the same card across the whole deck, meaning a High Alert in there would remove one from the sideboard. Deafening’s silence is a great choice though, cheers! Will update soon

You mean from the mainboard right? Hahaha Yeah, i know the 4x limit, and anyways on a second thought you are probably right you only need one "toughness/power changer" in the side board. Something like Grafdigger's Cage or Tormod's Crypt would be good with all the lurrus going around

Alkxx Oop, yeah ha; those are some tasty choices, I’ll have a proper look at some other bits and bobs and cobble something together, cheers again. How’d the testing go by the by?

My deck is very similar to this!
Perhaps add Moon-Blessed Cleric instead of Secret Door so you can pull a High Alert with turn 3 and casting it on turn 4? Secret Door has defender, which Huatli, the Sun's Heart can't convert. Perhaps Dragon's Eye Savants? Instead of Opt perhaps Azorius Charm? Maybe Lazotep Plating instead of Dive Down? It gives hexproof to all creatures and you as well, not to mention a zombie 1/1.

9-lives So it is! Secret Door felt some nice tech for longer games, but realistically it'll do nothing - good points, cheers. I'll swap it out for something, though Dragon's Eye Savants is perhaps a touch too slow. I do like Azorius Charm, but the extra cost does slow things down a tad, especially in a budget deck with a worse land base. Lazotep Plating is lovely, but again same issue - plus, Dive Down adds extra damage when necessary.
Thank you very much! Your deck's shown me some really good optimisations, I'll take a look at switching things up!

Love this deck and am planning to run it at a local pioneer event. I’ve found Giant Ox from Kaldheim to be a nice addition. A two mana 0/6 seems to fit the theme perfectly.

TheSigillite amazing! Best of luck, please do let me know how it goes. If you were to run the ox, I might instead suggest Dragon's Eye Savants - gives a teeny edge there, though I’d be hard-pressed changing this list around much.

Corrosive_Cat Oh wow that a very nice option as well! I think for this event I'll run it as intended by yourself and see how it goes. I do have access to Glacial Fortress and Bident of Thassa. What would you replace for the bident? Maybe the Mischievous Catgeist Flip?
December 5, 2021 4:12 a.m.
Corrosive_Cat says... #15
Yes, the Mischievous Catgeist Flip should go - I think in my Historic version I replaced it with another Opt and a third Surge Mare, so I should actually remove it here, probably.
Glacial Fortress is great - any dual lands’ll help if you have them!
Best of luck dude, please feel free to ask strategy questions and the like - I’ll update the description with some comments on it.

Corrosive_Cat really appreciate that. I'll playtest a bit on arena and see how it goes :)

TheSigillite Good stuff! Bear in mind God-Pharaoh's Faithful isn't on Arena, sadly - currently trialling Secret Door in its place, though it's not exactly blowing me away.

is my deck that runs this non-defender toughtness-damage which I just recently switched to modern. You should add Gauntlets of Light if you want more ability to make toughness into damage.

9-lives I've seen! Made some comments on it :)
I'm not how much I like Gauntlets of Light if I'm honest. It's a little slow, and quite weak - only affects one creature, and if that creature dies it's out for the count. Cheers anyways!
January 10, 2022 12:18 p.m.
Oh hahha! I didn't realize this was your deck, Corrosive_Cat! XD One of the reasons why I chose Gauntlets of Light was so that I could tutor it with Moon-Blessed Cleric along with High Alert, Detention Sphere, Rest in Peace and Angelic Gift. But, of course, I'd rather tutor High Alert instead of Gauntlets of Light...
January 10, 2022 12:25 p.m.
I see you have a general strategy that is similar to mine. Instead of tutoring enchantments in the deck, you have Fae of Wishes for your sideboard and saving room in your deck, which is really nice. Prison Realm is good with that scry 1. I don't know if you know that you can't tutor Deputy of Detention with the Fae of Wishes considering that it's a creature.

Corrosive_Cat says... #22
Cheers! Fae of Wishes is a really nice shortcut, for sure - shame I can't put extra copies of the toughness = damage cards in the sideboard! Deputy of Detention I treat as a regular sideboard card that I may actually need, whereas the others were kinda just the first that came to mind - I'll actually bung a Gauntlets of Light in there! That'd be smart, cheers.

First time posting and was wondering a few things. You have Refuse to Yield listed but it seems to defeat the setup for the deck. Would Aegis of the Heavens be better as it offers the same toughness but keeps the power low enough to remain unblockable. I understand that Aegis of the Heavens costs more, but it is still only $0.25 a card.
For the sideboard since you have Fae of Wishes would Brave the Sands be a possible addition for defense?

Corrosive_Cat says... #24
SpectersWolf thanks for the comments! Funnily enough, Refuse to Yield is strictly better in this deck. Not only is it better for defense, but on offense you also only cast it after the block step, meaning they'll already be unblocked when you buff it.
Brave the Sands was considered early on, and might actually be a decent spot in the Sideboard, I might well, cheers!

This is wonderful lol +1
Maybe something like Faithful Mending can be good in here to help dig for key cards and synergize with Dusk / Dawn? Instant speed looting and life gain with flashback could be good.
Corrosive_Cat says... #1
I actually ran Brave the Sands for a while, turned out to just not be fantastic; nobody attacked when my creatures were powerful, and the toughness stopped most of them anyway. Good idea on the flip lands definitely! I’ll strongly consider it
