This deck is my brew for the new Tron deck we are all looking for.
What is the goal of the deck?
This deck aims to assemble Urzatron quickly, and then start flooding the board with big haymakers until the opponent is dead - not unlike modern Tron.
This deck leans hard on its Cascade axis, and that's why I've decided I won't be running any cards I wouldn't want to hit off of cascade - e.g Crop rotation.
Card choices explained
Chromatic sphere, Golden egg & Chromatic star:
These cards are the mana-fixing backbone of the deck. while they aren't permanent mana fixing like Prophetic prism used to be, these guys do the job just fine, and crack themselves (or enter in Eggs case) for an additional card.
Ancient stirrings & Expedition map:
These cards find us the Tron lands quickly, but in a pinch can help with fixing (Grabbing forests or Caves), and in the case of stirrings - grabbing most of our threats as well.
Sarulf's packmate:
foretelling this gives you something to do on turn 2/ when you have a free Tron land, and hitting this off of a cascade creature is usually pretty good. add a decent body and the fact you can emerge a Gryff from it for 1U, and this card is proving its worth on multiple fronts.
Staunch throneguard:
a 2/5 in today's meta blocks off plenty of 4/4s (Myr enforcer anyone), and the Vigilance isn't shabby either. We're not a monarch deck by any means, and will sometimes side this out, but stealing the monarch for a turn or two can give us just enough gas to finish a game.
Wretched Gryff:
I dare you to cast it on turn 3 without feeling content with your deck choices. The flying gives us a much-needed aerial edge, and in the late game, you can dump counters from cave of temptation onto it to make it a legitimate threat.
Annoyed Altisaur:
It attac. it bloc. but most importantly, it cast another spell to increase your cloc. Really, what doesn't this guy do?
Maelstrom colossus & Ulamog's crusher:
a 2/2 split because cascading into an altisaur is amazing.
Self - Assembler:
repeatable 4/4s while leaving you with just enough mana to continue drawing and looking for other threats.
Sideboard choices
Masked vandal:
one of the best artifact/ enchantment hate cards currently available. Bonus - you can tutor it with self assembler!
Relic of progenitus:
great graveyard hate.
Serrated arrows:
bullies elves, faeries and also stops Guardian of the guildpacts.
Spidersilk armor:
another anti-fae card.
Weather the storm:
vs aggressive MUs/ make the burn player cry.
Pulse of murasa:
Cleansing wildfire got you down? this helps vs land destruction while also returning creatures, and you gain 6 life! great deal.
Gravepurge:
I saved the spiciest card to the end. This helps in grindy MUs and refills your deck with all of your lost creatures. You can also arrange them in the order you want, making Colossus-> Dino-> throneguard piles a trivial thing.
