This is my third deck built around
Training Grounds
and
Izzet Guildmage
, with the new card from Ravnica Allegiance making its debut:
Biomancer's Familiar
! With the addition of green, the deck can now make use of
Commune with the Gods
to help find two parts of the combo, which lets the deck find it more consistently.
How it Works
First, you need an
Izzet Guildmage
and either a
Biomancer's Familiar
or a
Training Grounds
on the battlefield; this reduces the cost of Izzet Guildmage's abilities to or . From there, you need a
Manamorphose
to go off.
-
Cast Manamorphose, holding priority, then copy it for with Izzet Guildmage's ability.
-
Let the copy resolve, creating and another desired color. Draw a card.
-
Once again, hold priority when you get to the original Manamorphose. Copy it again for , and repeat the process. (note that you can copy copies of a spell, which makes the process a lot faster on MTGO)
This nets you 1 mana of any color and draws you a card, and you can do so infinitely.
How to Win
After you draw your deck, splice a
Psychic Puppetry
onto a Pyschic Puppetry to create a spell that reads: "You may tap or untap two target permanents" and go through the same loop above. This makes infinite mana and taps all of your opponent's lands so they can't interact.
From there, you win by either
-
Casting
Hornet Sting
and copying it infinitely
-
Making your opponent draw cards with
Dimir Guildmage
-
Casting
Laboratory Maniac
and drawing a card
I haven't really tested this deck at all yet but this draft should work okay.
(Original deck: Training Grounds Combo)
(Version 2: Arcane Training Grounds Combo)
(Temur: Temur Training Grounds Combo) <-- this is the most competitive one
