Modern Gifts is a powerful tier 1.5 control deck. It has the potential in some games to play like a tier 1, but the consistency just isn't there.

Piloting Gifts Ungiven takes an innate knowledge of what kinds of cards and interactions are played in the modern meta, and what the right set of cards to tutor for are. It requires many hours of acquiring familiarity with Gifts decks to determine what the appropriate tutor is.

Versus Aggro

 Aggro is not a favorable matchup, consistent turn 4 or 5 win decks will usually beat this deck, as it doesn't have enough removal or control to deal with them enough.  The best plays against a RDW or Delver deck is to have absolute hand disruption, so that they will have nothing to do when your removal sets in.  It is also important to have enough removal to take care of the bigger creatures, like a Tarmogoyf.

Best Gift packages:

• Raven's Crime / Life from the Loam - this combo can lock out an opponent in an absolutely destructive manner, it prevents them from keeping anything in hand once some fetches have been cycled.

• Batterskull / Engineered Explosives / Academy Ruins - the Explosives can shut down a heavy 1- or 2- drop creature deck, and the Academy can help pull off the interaction. The skull is included so that you are guaranteed to get something in your. Having a loam in play can make getting the academy combo out successful.

• Damnation / Supreme Verdict / Merciless Eviction - this traditional "wrath package" will guarantee you a wrath to be played the next turn.

• Unburial Rites / Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite - a turn 4 Elesh Norn will destroy a small cmc creature deck, along with token decks.

• Abrupt Decay / Maelstrom Pulse / Path to Exile / Hero's Downfall - this series of 4 different removal spells will give you 2 of them to play, at which point you can remove the necessary creatures to ensure your success.
