I personally find Timely Reinforcements, while on paper a risk, to be an extremely effective card on curve in a list running Thoughtsieze, Bitterblossom and Godless Shrine.

I'm assuming Dragon's Claw is to be used against burn, Sanctimony might work a bit better.

black_mana I never knew that card existed. Ya I like the replacement. Thanks!

Your welcome. Now may you go forth and spread the good word of Sanctimony.

I find Kor Firewalker to be better than both dragon claw and sanctimony personally.

Burrenton Forge-Tender is also an option. Each of them have their pros and cons. Sanctimony basically makes sure you will be gaining life against burn, and is harder for their deck to remove. Red has artifact hate, so Dragon's Claw may not be the best, although it is the easiest to cast of them all. Kor Firewalker is my personal favorite since he will be an unblockable, untargetable bear for them to deal with that can block them all day without dying. But where Burrenton Forge-Tender is the best, is for preventing wipes like Pyroclasm or Anger of the Gods, which you are very likely to run into eventually. It's really a meta call for you; I personally use Forge-Tenders because I run into more RG Tron than I do Burn at my shop. If you see more Burn decks, Firewalker is probably the way to go. Sanctimony seems really good too though, I honestly have never seen that card before either lol.

So the thing I've found with Sanctimony is that its better against more than just burn. IE delver, twin, naya zoo possibly. But it hits the Destructive Revelry that burn sides in for the Leyline of Sanctity
Burrenton Forge-Tender is good against the R/G tron match up, while its not super good against burn.
Kor Firewalker is good against the burn match up because its a body and you gain life.
Dragon's Claw is an artifact so its harder to remove but it doesn't do quite as well as other things.
So I'm at a loss. Each has its own drawbacks and pluses. What do you guys think is honestly going to be the best against the most.

Kor Firewalker is better against delver than Sanctimony is because of Young Pyromancer. Though I'd rather run Auriok Champion over any of them since it destroys delver, punts on twin, slows down RDW, becomes a major irritant to Jund, wins you games against Junk single-handedly (serious), and puts a stop to any creature based aggro deck currently in the meta (Ie: Mono-G elves/stompy, merfolk and zoo).

Oh, and it is better against RDW because of Destructive Revelry.

Yeah, I would probably go with Kor Firewalker to be the catch-all. As I said, it's a meta call for you, and it depends what you run into the most. But for a generic, safe choice I would go with Firewalker. Auriok Champion is definitely a good choice to keep in your back pocket as well; Femme_Fatale already covered why that is an excellent choice. To further the point, you would be gaining stupid amounts of life from Champion, due to the fact that this is a token deck, and it runs Bitterblossom. Since you run 2 Champions in the main, I'd probably replace Dragon's Claw with Kor Firewalker in the side. It wouldn't surprise me to see the other 2 Champions in that spot though, no doubt.

I don't know if you have space but Zealous Persecution is great, especially in the mirror.

HellsMayo Thats something i've tried and tested. Its a lot better in non-Bitterblossom list. With Raise the Alarm it works better as they might need the +1/+1 for them and the -1/-1 to push through but when i have all fliers save the ones from Timely Reinforcements, they get enough evasion.

Hey have you considered the new origins card Hallowed Moonlight for the sideboard because it's great against Living end decks and Twin decks.

Love the deck, it looks like what I hope to do with mine. Hallowed Moonlight looks like a powerful sideboard card. +1

Hallowed Moonlight is a good card though i dont know if I want it. It's a good card but against twin I can win the game using Batwing Brume as opposed to just stalling it.

It's not just Twin though. Living End and every single Collected Company deck will be badly weakened by it.

Timely vs. Secure the Wastes: which do you like better here?
July 26, 2015 2:50 a.m.
Timely. With Bitterblossom I can generally always get the life gain and the soldiers are really helpful against zoo or places where I just need to go wider than with just spirits and faeries
July 26, 2015 2:52 a.m.
That's pretty reasonable. I think you might be able to cut Leyline, if it's there for burn. Between 2 Timely, 2 Champion, 2 Sorin, 2 Duress and 2 Firewalker Burn should be a reasonable match-up.
July 26, 2015 3:01 a.m.
Leyline helps against more than burn though. Grixis delver and jund being the main things. It's something I generally want to land on turn 0 as its really helpful

In a blossom deck, Timely Reinforcements isn't so bad actually. Bitterblossom should be played turn 2, which gives you a decent chance of your opponent getting out at least 2 creatures. Noble Hierarch and Scavenging Ooze for example. It isn't good in a non blossom list, but a mainboard of 2 is acceptable in a blossom list.
