I like the idea of making a workable and cheap deck based around a pretty horrendous card or mechanic. Here's my attempt at creating a fairly budget Haakon, Stromgald Scourge deck. My rule of thumb is that cards should cost less than $3 a pop. That means I can't include things like Mercenary Knight, and Anvil of Bogardan, which would obviously help a lot, but whatever.
