Yawgmoth proliferate abilities to speed up your deck power and kinda surprised no Crumbling Ashes in the deck.

gdm1989: Tested Crumbling Ashes , I had mixed feelings TBH.

Oh I would have thought it would like hapatra btw thinking about a budget version of dr. Yawgmoth anytime soon?

gdm1989: Probably not a budget version for at least a few weeks, and possibly longer - just because I don't know the deck well enough to really know what to cut and what not to ;)

Just out of curiosity, you mention that this list isn't cEDH level yet, what would take it there? Making it more 'Ad Nauseam' friendly?

June 11, 2019 5:07 a.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #6

MeagherMan101: Honestly, I'm not sure if it CAN get there. More expensive ramp, obviously (notably Mox Diamond ), but beyond that...

The deck's biggest strength lies in its ability to efficiently destroy all creatures, but cEDH decks... don't overly care about that? I mean, they care, but their actual wincons generally can't be disrupted in that way. Pair that with the prevalence of Cursed Totem (the boogeyman for this deck) and the fact that mono-black pretty much can't interact with artifacts apart from Null Rod ?

I don't think it'll ever get to that point.

gdm1989: I don't run Crumbling Ashes in Hapatra, either. It's just very slow.

How big of a issue is colorless mana?

Considering Pawn of Ulamog and Sifter of Skulls .

June 11, 2019 11:42 a.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #9

Rambolicious_0: I tested them, actually - they're great with the infinite combo via Undying creatures, but they didn't do much else. The issue is that I'm generally sacrificing tokens? So I don't get a huge amount of benefit from them. I was re-considering Pawn of Ulamog solely for its ability to be two bodies if nothing else.

What are your mana sinks?

I like Bloodtracker .

Priest of Gix I know it's a bit left field but if you're exploiting reanimation there may be a way to use him or too clunky

If Cursed Totem or Linvala is common in your play group, then I'd keep Dictate / Grave Pact on reserve for the value grind with non-creature sac outlets such as Ashnod's Altar or Carrion or Gate to Phyrexia (flavor win).

I'm transitioning to Yawgmoth from Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim and while I miss some of the lifegain shenanigans in Ayli, I feel like Yawgmoth does exactly what I want to do.

Daedalus19876 says... #13

Rambolicious_0: Honestly, I've never found I need any mana sinks here much. Yawgmoth keeps my hand full, and turns any new token-makers I draw into cards -- it feels like playing a storm deck. The issue is much more one of having enough mana to cast everything I draw.

thismightberyan: It's not too common in my main playgroup, luckily. If that changes I might have to tinker with some card choices.

Seems like a sweet deck! Have you considered Sangromancer as a way to stock back up on life points, both by killing creatures and by forcing opponents to discard via Mindslicer / Awaken the Erstwhile ? Three life per death really adds up quickly, and Sangromancer's saved my mono black control deck more than once.

PhotogenicParasympathetic: That is intriguing, I'll consider it ;)

Hey man, love the deck! Have you considered adding in Westvale Abbey  Flip? It can get you a 9/7 flying, indestructible, Lifelink. Also generates creatures if needed.

Daedalus19876 says... #18

budlaorf: I'll keep that in my back pocket! For the moment I think it's too much mana for the payoff, but I may reconsider :)

Hey man! I saw you commented on my Sen Triplets EDH, you helped a lot so, thanks for that! This are some of my suggestions for sacrifice recursions:

Dreadhorde Invasion Vindictive Vampire Sifter of Skulls Pawn of Ulamog Phyrexian Arena

I like the route you've taken, here is my version (I went with Proliferate/Infect):

Yawgmoth, Father of Machines

thoughts on the new M2020 vamp tutor?

June 17, 2019 10:17 p.m.

gradstudent says... #22

how about going snow lands for dead of winter or extraplanar lens or scrying sheets

June 18, 2019 8:38 p.m.

Daedalus19876 says... #23

gradstudent: I'm not fully convinced by the 2020 Vamp Tutor here -- I'd rather run a more mana-intensive tutor that doesn't lose me the game if I can't immediately exploit it.

I could put in Snow-Covered Swamp s, but honestly I just foiled my basics here XD not doing that again lmao.

Hey love the deck its got my vote. what is your take on Black Market , Diabolic Intent which could work better then Vampiric Tutor , Puppeteer Clique which with Mikaeus, its a repeatable primordail, Night Incarnate , even Lashwrithe can come as an unexpected beatdown, and Priest of Forgotten Gods . Will some of these Help, and when you get a chance, can you check out my deck, there are on your wall.
