I think that this deck would be way better with a few one drops, even if they dont synergize with fists and liege

I agree with llamaglama01. You should add Stromkirk Noble or Monastery Swiftspear.

Amazing deck, have you considered Legion Loyalist?

All these one drop suggestions... And we forgot my friend Goblin Guide. +1 for a legit Rakdos aggro for modern. I have the cards laying around and may take it for a spin. Also I'm gonna seconed Dreadbore main board cause it can hit that walker that b/w tokens plays along with karn from tron.

So, why isn't Lightning Bolt mainboard?

November 18, 2014 2:14 p.m.

CelticStag says... #7

@Corythackston Sligh decks tend to be aggro that focus on creatures and their synergy to be quick and bring down an opponent. The side board I'm guessing is meant to be transformative as two aggros decks clashing creatures tends to get everyone nowhere.

At least that's my guess

Bro...how do you not have Kulrath Knight and Everlasting Torment????!

Abuse Fists of the Demigod and Ashenmoor Liege?

Boggart Ram-Gang

BTW you're dangerously close to jund here...NOT A BAD THING!

Wow, thanks guys for all the votes & suggestions!

@TH3WAFFL3R: I was certainly considering Mogis when I was first brewing this, but alas, he is just simply not explosive enough for a 4-drop in an Aggro deck.. Mogis definitely has Midrange/Control written all over him.. And Manaforge Cinder: yes, it is a 1-drop, but it's only a pitiful 1/1 with a totally irrelevant mana ability.. Just not enough value there to warrant a slot..

@tchau204: That was my experience with the whip, so I cut it..

@hexhaze: Dragon Mantle would be in here if this were centered around Prowess & Heroic triggers, but... it's not..

@corythackston: CelticStag pretty much nailed it. Check out the sideboard section in the description for a detailed explanation..

@HaxardUS: Thank you, but the Knight is a 5-drop, and the enchantment really doesn't do much for this deck. If anything, I'll eventually pick up 1-2x Rain of Gore for the sideboard if lifegain ever becomes an issue..

Btw, how is this a lot like Jund?

@RabidCatigi: I don't like it here. It would be better suited in a deck that abuses Madness abilites..

@babydvt: That card is more suited for a B/R/x Control deck that uses Liliana of the Veil, otherwise it would've been here a long time ago..

As far as calls for mainboarding Dreadbore; nope.. I only occasionally see Planeswalkers, therefore the instant-speed of Terminate is far more versatile overall. But if they do happen to run Planeswalkers; that's what the sideboard is for.. ;)

Great job, +1! The only tjing I'd personally change is Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch. I don't think she is so useful here. Can only target Rakdos Cackler and herself.. Yeah I know that you use her for First Strike and Haste, but maybe there could be better aggro 4-drop options. You could consider 2x Rakdos, Lord of Riots, 2x Blazing Specter, maybe even 2x Murderous Redcap (nice 7 damage combo with Ashenmoor Liege) or maybe 2 more Ashenmoor Liege. Let me know what you think about it! I totally love this deck!

Maybe replace Dreadbore with Terminate because of instant capability? Otherwise, I like the deck and +1 :)

Whoops, just saw that you already have a playset sorry XD.

June 9, 2015 9:10 a.m.

Have you looked into using Jund Hackblade or Grixis Grimblade? In this deck of all multicolored creatures those 2 are 3/2s with Haste and Deathtouch respectively, plus they're both RB!

June 9, 2015 9:22 a.m.

@GeminiSpartanX: I've thought about them pretty hard actually, but I don't them because their value is very conditional. This deck needs cards that both synergize with the overall theme AND constitute their own self-contained threat as well.. But what do you think of the deck overall in it's current build? +1 perhaps?

June 9, 2015 10:31 a.m.

After looking at a few opening hands, I just got the impression that you're always lacking in either lands or creatures. It never seemed that you were running out of non-creature spells though. I only suggested them to help overcome that fact since there isn't much card draw in RB.

Have you considered Cryptborn Horror? he'd be a great addition and he seems better than Rakdos

Tried this deck out last Friday, I LOVE black/red decks, and this one just kinda seemed right to me. Had the whole deck except for the fulminator mages and 1 blood crypt.

First game 2/1, Lost the 1 because got mana flooded.

Second Game 2/0.

Third Game 2/1, I apologize but I cannot remember why I lost the 1.

4th Game 1/2, Went against a 4 color deck, first 2 games were overly close, lost the first, won the second, the third game my opponent gained 5 life from playing a Thragtusk, and proceeded to take him out of the graveyard 5 times. I think I did around 40-50 damage that third game. He cleaned my field and beat me after about a 20-25 minute game.

I ended up with a tie for 2nd place. I GREATLY recommend this deck!

Cool deal Bloodlines39! Glad to hear that this performed so well for you! Would you happen to remember more-or-less what the other three decks that you played against were? And did you utilize the Burn-heavy sideboard, and if so, what did you think of it?

Bloodlines39 says... #22

The first deck I played against was mono white, ran a heavy aggro/life gain sort of deal, but none of it worked alone, required 1-2 creatures or maybe an enchantment to work. Spot removal ended any sort of attempts at the mass life gain.

Second Game was green/red, spent most of the game scrambling to keep up. He couldn't chip me away as fast as I could to him. I couldn't exactly get a good idea as to what his deck was supposed to do.

Third Game was a Blue/Black Tribal Faerie, His mana cost average practically matched mine. His downside was that his spot removal was built upon counter spells, so having a Rakdos Cackler and Spike Jester on turn 2 was not a good start for him. I wanna say I lost the 1 against him because he was able to get enough Faeries to overwhelm my board.

Fourth game, guy played a 4 color deck (no red), mostly mana ramp into large creatures, with things to view my hand like Thoughtseize to prepare. Had a lot of cards that dug creatures from the graveyard. (I killed that same Thragtusk 6 times) For that game, Fists of the Demigod and Psychotic Fury helped a lot, most of his creatures were high power lower toughness.

3 of the 4 games I did try the burn sideboard. It throws people for a loop, I don't think some people even guessed that I side boarded in straight burn.

The 4th game I didnt use the burn, he opened with Leyline of Sanctity on the first 2 games.

That's awesome.. The first deck sounds like a deck called 'Soul Sisters' (Heavy reliance on Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, & Martyr of Sands for crazy lifegain)

As far as the last deck, it seems that Contaminated Ground & Rakdos Charm would've been the preferred hate against greedy 3+ color manabases & Reanimator respectively.. Fulminator Mage screws over special lands too, but I understand the limitation there.. (I actually only have one myself..)

Other than that, again, congratulations on your strong outing, and thank you for your endorsement.. The last thing I have to ask is; as someone else who has piloted this in an actual competition, what would YOU think would improve the overall strength of the deck?

Bloodlines39 says... #24

In all honesty, I almost want to put in another Ashenmoor Liege, but if I did, deciding on what to replace would be difficult. I'm trying my damnedest to get a hold of some Fulminator Mage, but other than that the deck was solid.

Madcap Skills Is the only thing I would want changed. Its an awesome card, but it eats 2 mana (which can be a lot for this deck) but the creature gets no toughness. Fists of the Demigod and Brute Force saved a few creatures, and burned off my opponents spot removal/cheap blockers. But Madcap Skills more or less painted a target with no way to save the creature.
