I'm working on a new deck to utilize Avacyn Restored's powerful new humans. I'm still sitting at 62 cards and not sure what to take out. I'd love any constructive criticism. As this is my first posted deck here, I'd love any and all advice. Thanks for taking the time to check my deck.

I've never been a "gotta be exactly 60 cards" guy. I'll run up to 63-64 sometimes. That being said, I'd sideboard the Devine deflection and add another increasing devotion. Keep it at 62 and see how it runs.

You should mainboard Gisela, Blade of GoldnightMTG Card: Gisela, Blade of Goldnight.

You know you want to. ;)

+1. Some good ideas, I think CloudshiftMTG Card: Cloudshift + Fiend HunterMTG Card: Fiend Hunter has some cool implications.

I do...I really do. I designed the deck around CloudshiftMTG Card: Cloudshift and Restoration AngelMTG Card: Restoration Angel. Cloudshift Kessig MalcontentsMTG Card: Kessig Malcontents to double damage, or cloudshift Zealous ConscriptsMTG Card: Zealous Conscripts to grab 2 creatures then attack with all three.

i like the looks of it. only a few things i'd change though. it seems like you have a lot of 2 of's and 1 of's. that may be just because these are cards that you actually have at the moment, but i find it more helpful to lay out what you want the deck to be like when its finished, so people can give you feedback on the final result. also it helps you keep track of waht cards you still need to get. secondly, with only 5 mountains in the deck and 4 other red sources, i wouldnt run stonewright, you could either take him out and replace him with or you could add more mountains and take out plains or slayers stongholds

I'm kinda at a wall with this deck. I don't want it to just be RW humans like all the other decks, but I feel it's missing just...something. Any ideas would be really, really appreciated.

A lot of r/w is adding Hellrider. Such a beast in this kind of deck. Great win-con IMO. And I think EVERY humans deck is running silverblad paladin now, and rightly so...it's awesome. But then you run into "being like every other deck."

On another note, isn't Cavern of Souls just incredible??? Take THAT counter spells...

With 26 Creatures and 12 Instants/Sorceries, DEFINITELY include Thalia, Guardian of ThrabenMTG Card: Thalia, Guardian of Thraben.

Running 4 Cavern of SoulsMTG Card: Cavern of Souls is also a good idea, as most of your creatures are humans.

Nice job though!

Thanks. I appreciate that!

love the layout of the deck one thing i think I'd add would be a Herald of War well 2 one side board other in deck then add back your Gisela, Blade of Goldnight

Thanks for the suggestions. I was concerned that Herald of War would be too slow, as it would have to be turn 5 minimum before I could start getting counters on it, and that would only be if I had an unpaired Lightning Mauler . It just seemed too slow for what I was trying to do, but I'll definitely give it another look. Thanks for checking the deck out!

I don't see how thatchers revolt helps this deck much. I'm sure there is a reason and i don't see it besides the damage equal to humans card, which would be expensive to play both in one turn. Whys it in this deck, I know its fast but there is fast stuff that is more permanent as well. I also really like the deck +1

Well, aside from the reasons you've mentioned, Thatcher Revolt works SO well with Goldnight Commander . If you have GC out, then play TR, that's 17 damage to the head right there. Thanks for the comments!

No Kruin Strikers?

Hero of Bladehold seems pretty amazing in here.

Have you considered Grim Lavamancer or Grand Abolisher? They don't really fit with your blink theme, but I think they're still good enough to warrant checking them out. I'd take a look at Mentor of the Meek as well.

Combust is often a sideboard staple. Dunno if you expect to be playing against those colors (you probably do if you're running Pacifism over Bonds of Faith, though).

I'm sure you won't end up using all these suggestions, but see what works for you.

Honestly, I'd use Hero of Bladehold if I had any, but I can't see investing the money in them as they're going to be out of standard in 4 months. Definitely a great suggestion though. As for the other cards, they're not in there for the same reason, I just don't own them. I also like the idea of this deck being almost Block Legal, if I take out the Oblivion Ring s. I'll definitely be on the look out for them in trade binders though. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and for the suggestions!

Ah, I see. Well, Kruin Striker is really cheap and seems pretty good in here. It also isn't going to be rotating out any time soon.

"If you have GC out, then play TR, that's 17 damage to the head right there." I don't understand. If you have him out, then play thatcher revolt, you would buff GC and any other creatures out on the field by +3/+3 how would it deal 17 damage to the player automatically. This is confusing me.

June 3, 2012 10:27 p.m.

Siyanor says... #19

4+4+4+5=17. The tokens from TR are on the field when the effect of GC resolves, so they get the +3/+3 bonus.

Dekester says... #20

I didn't mean that it was automatic, but you can swing with 17 power. Sorry for the confusion.

Siyanor,

As for the comment on Kruin Striker , I don't really have a concrete reason as to why I didn't add them to the deck. I just felt that Lightning Mauler , and the ability to give haste to a creature I had just blinked out with Cloudshift or Restoration Angel was more in line with my deck. Definitely will try a few games with the striker in and see how it goes. Thanks for the idea!

ok gotcha, yeah i thought it was automatic some how. Yeah thats def good though.

honor of the pure and doomed traveler would be great here and less restoration cause you don't need so much flicker in the aggro deck. take out a few guest honored monk for 2 mirrand crusader and the fiend hunter should be enough removal so if you want more you should add a pillar of flame because it costs one and exile the creature + you can give them 2 to the face if no creature =s are out.
