oh just a btw Go for the Throat isn't standard. I'd suggest 2x Ultimate Price and 2x Doom Blade and same for the sideboard

Thanks for that! Those were supposed to be Doom Blade , but I agree with the 2/2 split with Ultimate Price

with this standard you'll probably be running Doom Blade s more than Ultimate Price s lol

I love the theme of this deck. I've been thinking of making a Weeping Angel themed deck for EDH.

I must say, I really like this deck idea. I have never seen the concept of keyrunes being used so aggressively before. The only thing I might suggest is to try and find some direct damage spells to confuse and distract them from the real threat. Because Once you start packing the field with keyrunes the tactic will become rather obvious. But it is still a fantastic idea and I love how it is implemented.
Of course I have no idea how it has performed for you as of yet, and if it has performed well then props to you. Just a few things to maybe consider, maybe sideboard options? But anyway great deck and +1 from me.

Thanks for the comment! I'd considered something like Debt to the Deathless in this as well. I figured with the extra mana generated by the Keyrunes, it could be effective as well.

Actually yes that would be a brilliant card to include. Especially if you are against a heavy artifact/creature removal deck. I wouldn't mainboard it, but in the sideboard it could wreak havoc.

You have 5 wraths... drop one. And add another Detention Sphere .

how would you make this type of deck if it were casual? I'm considering on doing that since my group don't play standard and wanted to make it even more deadly
August 28, 2013 12:52 p.m.
Well, the core idea is board wipes and permanents that can become creatures until end of turn. Chimeric Mass would be fun. I know there are a few lands that have similar abilities. White/Black would probably be better in casual. Post-rotation standard doesn't have much in the way of sweepers right now outside of Supreme Verdict or Merciless Eviction , so that's why I went B/W/U. I like Supreme Verdict better.

Although I get the concept of the deck, Orzhov Keyrune is one of the weaker keyrunes. Maybe in sideboard against hyper-aggressive decks, and in the meantime Haunted Plate Mail is fantastic.

When I read the title, I thought, "I wonder if this is going to have a sleeping angel reference from Dr. Who?" lol +1

personally, with the way rotation is coming R/W and G/W seem to slowly becoming the major color heads here. With heroes being red and white and hydras being green and white oriented I would try to really figure a way to stop cards like Savage Summoning and get ways around Boros Charm
I mean with the right mana you Supreme Verdict their stuff, and then Negate the charm, but a 6 mana board wipe is very risky especially on your turn....
Maybe toss in a few Quicken to verdict on their turn after a tap out (the card draw is also very nice)
I would also look into maybe trying to squeeze in a tecky Nivmagus Elemental in the sideboard.
If going against a counter deck you pop him out turn one....then when they attack, or when you attack or anything cast a spell for as little as you can to help...if they go to counter exile it first...get two +1/+1 counters and all in all the counter spell resolves to nothing and gets destroyed
the above idea for nivmagus is what makes me REALLY want to run him against decks like yours that are massively control based...
if you want to really get an idea of what to play against check out my deck 90% Naya...it is a mid-range which is what most decks have a hard time controlling....

THANK YOU for finally realizing the potential of keyrunes in control decks... I've been looking for somebody who has :P

Clever deck AND a weeping angel reference? You've got my vote.

I really like Orzhov Keyrune for stabilizing health and great against red deck burn spells
March 2, 2014 8:43 p.m.
I originally left Orzhov Keyrune out because it wasn't getting enough damage in. However, that was pre Spear of Heliod . I may consider splitting the Keyrunes depending on performance, maybe 3-3-2.
