As one of the more unique decks in the modern world, Flicker decks basically use cards like Cloudshift
+
Ghostly Flicker
to use and abuse ETB effects like a boss. Whether it's to negate combat damage, laugh off a Doom Blade, or produce card advantage; it's definitely a very resistant deck to most Modern threats.
A great Johnny deck all around. Almost all the cards can work together to great effect. Probably the game winner would either to keep blinking the Armada Wurm for endless tokens or abuse Venser, Shaper Savant to bounce everything the opponent has. I have Trostani, Selesnya's Voice for life gain and esthetics because REASONS.
NOTE: I'm using Cloudshift in the description just to make the deck easier to understand. It could easily be replaced by any other instant-speed flicker: Ghostly Flicker
+
Restoration Angel
, etc.
Mulldrifter, Eternal Witness and Wall of Omens for card advantage, I find this deck uses resources quickly. Keeping the opponent guessing as to whether I have a Restoration Angel or a Venser, Shaper Savant in my hand is half the battle for me. Being in top-deck mode is a definite no-no for this deck as it really reduces effectiveness and let's my opponent rest easy knowing I have no tricks up my sleeve.
Some good synergies would be:
Cloudshift
+
Fiend Hunter
Allow his LTB to resolve first, and upon re-entering, you get to exile a creature permanently as well as get the regular exile from ETB for the second time. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Cloudshift
+
Venser, Shaper Savant
Hard-cast Venser into the field, wait until opponent's turn to flicker him to get rid of any bigguns or other undesirable permanents (yes that includes lands :D )
Venser, Shaper Savant + Venser, the Sojorner Splinter Twin?! :O Definite card advantage for this combo, albeit at sorcery speed. His (Sojourner) -1 can be a win-con with enough Armada Wurm and Blade Splicer Tokens
Cloudshift
+
Eternal Witness
This one's a real beauty. An almost endless recycle of your graveyard, all the while negating combat damage via block + instant speed flicker or to dodge a spot removal. Unless a Wrath of God drops, you can be pretty sure you'll be seeing a lot of your dead friends again. Works just as well with PW Venser, but a little easier to read by your opponent and obviously can't dodge bullets a la Matrix at sorcery speed (unless you have a Cloudshift :P
Restoration Angel She is more of a beater and a flash-blocker than anything else. Her flicker effect is honestly just a huge helping of convenience gravy for this deck. She helps deter any pesky airborne threats as well, as you probably want to keep your Flickerwisp alive for swinging or flickering.
Sideboard incomplete, don't really know what to put in to finish it. More card advantage? Hate? O-ring?
