Love love love this deck!

Have you considdered the two Parallax's (i.e. Parallax Tide & Parallax Wave) ? They seem absolutly bunkers in Brago decks - got a little writeup in my own version of this deck, the combo is a bit complicated but Im sure you're allready aware of the interaction :)

I've been thinking about adding them both! What's your thoughts on cuts?

Winther says... #3

It's always difficult suggesting cuts for people who's been playing their deck for a while and knows it's ins and outs. The one thing I can see, is that your average CMC is a bit high. Maybe cutting some of the high end cards would smoothen the curve? Anyhow, here's my thoughts

I assume Angel of Serenity is in here to exile things, right? Unless you got some way of cheating her in that Im not seeing, Parallax Wave does the same, with more targets and with a lower CMC. Obviously, you lose the ability to blink in things from the grave back, but Brago decks has so many outs that I dont think that'll stop you

I'd say the card that properly contributes the least to your current shenanigans is Bribery. You do write that you've won games based on it but it's awfully slow. For instance, whereas Archaeomancer + Time Warp just straight up wins the game, Archaeomancer + Bribery is more of a "win-more-cluncky"-kinda deal, which in my humble opinion can be cut :)

Blade Splicer seems a tiny bit misfit IMO. Whilst having a great CMC, seems to do very little for control. I assume this is a control based deck, right? Whereas Knight-Captain of Eos does a lot to merit his inclusion, the Splicer seems a little too vanilla and I'd personally prefer having a cheap counterspell or a spot removal instead

Do you really need Stonehorn Dignitary? One of the most amazing things about Brago is his ability to bring your stuff back untapped - i.e. your things end up with a kinda pseudo vigilance thingy. It seems to me, that this deck wouldn't have much trouble simply blocking / removing any real threats that come our way. In my experience, Brago's biggest weakness is combo decks going off and we seldom lose to straight up creatures attacking. It's a cool card for sure. Just seems unnecessary to me

My five cent, anyhow :) Lemme know what you think!

I'll consider dropping Angel of Serenity and Stonehorn Dignitary. (: Thanks for the suggestions!

Sorry to interrupt, but I hugely disagree.

Both Angel of Serenity and Stonehorn Dignitary are staples in the deck.

Angel of Serenity is one of the best cards in the deck. Yes, it cost 7 mana. However, once it's out, it can easily be a win condition. The Angel serves two purposes. Removing other people stuff and putting things from your graveyard to your hand. She's an all-star of the deck.

Stonehorn Dignitary is truly amazing. It hugely helps your stax plan. It helps you gain time to set up a combo or win condition.

I must aggree with Winther. Blade Splicer doesn't really seem that good. A 3/3 in commander is just not that impressive. Furthermore, Skyship Weatherlight seems way too slow. I would cut those.

Winther says... #6

I agree on the Skyship Weatherlight as pointed out by The_Raven. I neglected calling it out as it could easely be interpeted as a bit condecending calling out too many cards.

I might have underestimated Angel of Serenity for the recursion role she potentially has. My reasoning was that she was a whooping mana symbol 7-cost. If you can cast (and resolve) her it seems to me that you should already have won the game. The 2nd reason was my concern with his average CMC. It's a bit high for a competitive build and cutting one of the pricy cards would likely help out with that

Why do you reccon Stonehorn Dignitary is a must? He runs a ton of creatures and the build isent very stax oriented as far as I can see - seems to be going in a token based version of Brago. I dont think he should have problems getting overrun in most games

Glad we at least can agree on the Blade Splicer :)

KCisSICKnasty says... #7

Hmmm. Yeah, I suppose Skyship is pretty slow. And I'll test out dropping the Splicer. (:

Glad to see you took, at least some of, my advice :-)

Lemme know how that works out for you - genuinely curious!

I see you cut Stonehorn Dignitary. I was going to recommend Fatespinner simply bc it can do the same to each opponent but doesn't need blinked. Or it can also force opponents to only cast instants on their turn or cause them to miss their draw.

KCisSICKnasty says... #10

I'll consider it. (: Thank you!

The new enchantment, Consulate Surveillance from Kaladesh could possibly replace Knight-Captain of Eos as a means to prevent a lot of damage. It doesn't have the added benefit of producing token fodder but can prevent a lot of non-combat damage from say a combo'ing off Purphoros, God of the Forge.

Hmm. Interesting. I'll probably playtest it.

I actually had that in my maybeboard and cut it just a few minutes ago. lol It hits 12 creatures in the deck (most likely soon to be less) and I'm just on the fence about how useful that is. What would you suggest cutting for it?

NarejED says... #15

I would drop Angel of Serenity. For 7 mana, her ability is pretty mediocre. Not worth running in an optimized shell.

September 30, 2016 12:09 p.m.

KCisSICKnasty says... #16

I've been on the fence about dropping her. However, Recruiter would probably be more useful so I'll consider it.

September 30, 2016 12:24 p.m.

SomeDipshit says... #17

aight -- consider how most other decks run Recruiters -- usually just to fetch <10 key creatures (Imperial Recruiter --> Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker). Since none of your creatures outright win the game when tutored for, this is less the case here. However, you can definitely fetch a silver bullet, or continually build a lockout using the recruiter as fuel -- especially when UW has few ways to outright search for creatures.

Being able to find Glen Elendra Archmage or Reflector Mage would justify it to me.

On Angel of Serenity... the Eternal Witness effect is the most attractive part of the ability. The body and threat bouncing is just gravy. But, yeah, it's hard to get out and make work of it before you have already won the game.

September 30, 2016 12:57 p.m. Edited.

KCisSICKnasty says... #18

Fair enough, but Recruiter of the Guard wouldn't be able to grab Reflector Mage.

PEANUTS. Well.... still ... Venser, Shaper Savant then

I'll consider the idea. (:

Panharmonicon is going to be so broken in most decks that use ETB effects (which is a lot). It's either going to be banned or Commander's next Sol Ring. Brago, Purphoros (it's a Parallel Lives in !!!), Alesha, ect, ect... It's not as good as say Strionic Resonator and Sol Ring with Brago, but it still double's most our effects with no mana investment. I'm curious as to what happens when Fiend Hunter exiles a creature with this in play. Does the Panharmonicon exile trigger permanently exile the creature (since their is no second Fiend Hunter to leave play) or do both come back in play if the Fiend Hunter leaves play? If it's a permanent exile it might be worth running Fiend Hunter and friends. NTM with Strionic Resonator and a Brago trigger, Fiend Hunter can permanently exile a creature anyhow.

Have you thought about Grand Abolisher? It's something else that doesn't need blinked and can let you breathe without worrying about counters.

September 30, 2016 2:45 p.m.

KCisSICKnasty says... #22

Yeah, Grand Abolisher is a great card. I've been farting around with what to take out. lol

September 30, 2016 4:40 p.m.

Flagellum says... #23

Been having the same problem lol. I've decided to rebuild my Brago deck, and as such gave it a new name. Took out most of the ETB tapped stuff like Kismet and Winter Orb. Makes games less grindy. It's actually somewhat similar to yours minus the fancy lands but started off completely budget (~$60):

Is this deck good for DuelEDH with the new 20 life meta? Is there anything you would change for playing DuelEDH with this deck? besides banned cards like sol ring
