Polupus, Flame Jab is a great card, but 1 damage doesn't seem like a good enough upside to take something else out... I may end up ditching the Scrying Sheets, the possibility of drawing into two lands isn't to attractive. I am definitely keeping Flame Jab on my radar.
August 2, 2016 1:29 p.m.
I agree. 1 dmg is underwhelming by itself without any triggered abilities for casting it.
Seismic Assault may be more to your liking in terms of just squeezing as much damage out of your cards as possible.
Also is kozilek in the sideboard for mill match ups? Or does this deck reliably reach 10 mana before killing the opponent?
August 2, 2016 2:24 p.m.
Polupus, Seismic Assault is actually really good... but it seems a very situational card, as I'd only use it after 4 lands. I admit that Kozilek also suffers from the same limitations, but yes, it hoses mill. I also liked it because Koth of the Hammer can push it out on 5 mountains.

nice list +1
have you seen this ? it was sweet during eldrazi high and is still pretty good inspiration imo

Also I feel like Thundermaw Hellkite, Stormbreath Dragon Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker, and Moltensteel Dragon are all better options than the dragon you have.
August 2, 2016 3:30 p.m.
PepsiAddicted, I actually have seen that, funny enough. It was part of my inspiration for this deck.
APPLE01DOJ, Those are all good options, but fit a more traditional Skred Red shell. I ended up just changing the land base in this deck to snow mountains, as it gives me 4 more Lightning Bolt. The best card out of those is Stormbreath Dragon, but its cmc is a little too high IMO. Avaricious Dragon is there primarily to enable Ensnaring Bridge, and it fits the 4 mana curve well.
Thank y'all both!

I understand the synergy behind Avaricious Dragon and Ensnaring Bridge. I just think it's a bad choice. As you said it can't attack and there will be times when you don't want to dump your hand and that you don't have Ensnaring Bridge. I just think the synergy is too loose to be worth it. I know most of what I mentioned is pretty high on the CMC scale but you are loaded with ramp.
I would at minimum swap at least 1 Chandra for 1 Sarkhan. Chandra is very situational.
Have you considered a black splash? It opens the door to far superior removal in Terminate & Dreadbore while also giving access to discard and Kolaghan's Command.
August 2, 2016 3:56 p.m.
Yeah, adding black is probably a good idea. I'd keep the snow mana base (which actually still works with fetch, shocks, and swamps if you play black) and definitely at least side 1 Flame Jab for grindy matchups (works well with Scrying Sheets, as previously mentioned).
August 2, 2016 5:04 p.m.
APPLE01DOJ and DarkLaw, the black splash is very tempting. Access to hand disruption, instantaneous removal, and a swiss army knife like Kolaghan's Command is nothing to sneeze at. The question I have is where do I fit these in without straying too far from the deck's original idea of controlling the board with an early Blood Moon, Koth of the Hammer, or Chandra, Pyromaster? I like Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker but he seems to function much like another Avaricious Dragon, though he is more elusive and one mana higher. Chandra is mainly there for her middle ability, as the card wouldn't go to my hand. I will definitely think about Sarkhan.

Ignorant Bliss? Bottled Cloister doesn't quite work. Collective Defiance? Sea Gate Wreckage to be triggered with the scrying sheets?
August 10, 2016 10:53 a.m.
lagotripha, those are all great suggestions, but what should I cut for them?

I'd consider cutting a pair of mountains for the wreckage, and keeping the bliss in mind as sideboard for a discard heavy meta. Collective Defiance is a strong anger alternative.

You had me at Snow-Covered Mountain.
I do like Molten Vortex for this build since it looks like it would hit the flood and you don't really need to keep hitting land after 6. You can pick off creatures that might get in the way of your Planesealkers, but it also makes for about 16 Shocks to the face. The Scrying Sheets would help you keep grabbing land faster, too.
The other one that comes to mind is Stuffy Doll. Skred him for lots of face damage. He's also a fantastic blocker. Spite of Mogis works great if you went that way at all too. Both are great cards but it sucks they can't hit a player, the doll fixes that.
I'd be curious to look into other Red snow permanents too, but that's minor.
I like it though, not your every day burn deck.

I just noticed that Grim Lavamancer on the maybe board. I really like the possibility of that with Molten Vortex because you can't get the land back anyway so you can pitch the lands and then pitch them again all on the cheap.
I just remembered Landslide along those lines as a finisher option as well. You could chain a lot of those things together for very little mana.

Thanks! I really like the Molten Vortex, that'll go a long way.

Why remove Magus of the Moon if you want the Blood Moon effect asap?
August 11, 2016 7:30 p.m.
Crimson_Jimi they are good, but they die so easily. I'd rather go for some more removal and lockdown cards.

I own this deck IRL and there have been a few times that Magus has saved me enough time to stall till I laid down the bridge or found a Blood Moon to make it a hard lock. I'd consider keeping it in the deck or at least having two of them to help with your chances of turning all non basic lands into mountains ASAP.
I have been entertaining the thought of turning my entire sideboard into a straight up burn deck because i don't think people would expect to side out a bunch of cards and essentially play against a completely different deck round 2 :D
The only issues I've had playing this deck are against WU control. Mana Leak, Remand, Counterspell and Cryptic Command ruin this deck.
I'll be following your deck to see if any other awesome ideas come up.
August 12, 2016 8:04 a.m.
Crimson_Jimi sounds good! I wanted to throw skred in with it to give some more reliable one mana removal and some extra cycling. The Burn sounds great! I like sideboards that blindside out of nowhere... that's why I'm running Kozilek.
I'll keep magus in the maybeboard and see if I can fit him in somewhere. Thanks for the support!

WU control could be dealt with by Vexing Shusher or Guttural Response, should you want to take that SB route.
August 12, 2016 7:10 p.m.
I like it a lot, always cool to see control decks built in unusual colors. Not sure what to suggest, but I would consider sun droplet over dragon's claw to work against more fast damage strats than red burn.

Looks fun to play deserves an up vote. But out of Curiosity why not play Seething Song

Avaricious Dragon seems insane in Skred! Sweet deck, +1!

Skred...
**** YEAH
I’ve been waiting for someone to build a bridge variant on skred. I even tried but that didn’t turn out very well. Anyway, +1. Also I hate Sarkhan SO much (I had a bad experience with him a while ago that I’ve never gotten over) that I almost didn’t upvote. But skred always deserves +1

+1 for mono-red control!
How bout Flame Jab to go with those Scrying Sheets and ditch extra land to help out Ensnaring Bridge?
