A fast BR Modern infinite life-loss combo deck, ideally comboing out on turn 4.
Combo: Charged Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank = If your opponent loses ANY amount of life or puts ANY CARD into their graveyard, they lose.
The rest of the deck is draw spells and ways to make your opponents lose at least 2 life at a variety of speeds and costs. It also has cheap hand disruption to weed out those pesky removal and control spells. (Thank you, Thoughtseize reprint!) There's also a one-copy Killing Wave; Protip: Waving for X=0 allows you to sac your own Geralf's Messengers for free, and Waving for X>=1 with an active combo and creatures on your opponent's field is an instant win! The deck curves out at 3 for Messengers and Blightning.
My sideboard offers me Dash Hopes and Surgical Extraction to help stop annoying spells for good. I also have Rakdos's Return, two
Lightning Serpent
s, and Past in Flames for longer games. It also has a second Killing Wave to counter Aggro decks.
Ideal turn order:
Turn 1: Blackcleave Cliffs, Bloodchief Ascension.
Turn 2: Cliffs #2,
Bump in the Night
/shock effect/Goblin Guide.
Opponent's turn: Shock effect/Lightning Bolt to the face. Ascension should have 2 counters on it.
Turn 3: Cliffs #3, Mindcrank, then Bump/shock/attack with Guide. At the end of your turn, the combo is active.
Turn 4: Victory!
(NOTE: If your opening hand has both Ascension and Goblin Guide, play Guide on turn 1 instead and attack, then spend turn 2 casting Ascension and attacking again. Proceed as usual after that.)
