Deff cartel, or bloodthrone.

I was using him for more early game. I am running a Blood Artist deck using Cartel and Bloodthrone. He lets me stop early game blocks and attack, but I don't really need him in there. Cartel would let me punch in earlier and more often, but I loose really using the Flicker. I will play test

Mutilate doesn't look like a good fit, you run so many creatures, and only 2 of them can come back after a mutilate.

speaking of blood artist... you probably want him in this deck too. you don't need a sac outlet for him to do work. Just attack your opponent and dare him to block you or cast a Supreme Verdict

Is your only sac outlet Cartel Aristocrat? I think a Bloodthrone Vampire would help both the aggro aspect of the deck as well as the alternative win of the sac outlet.

Check out and comment on my deck 6th Moon

This looks like a lot of fun! The one thing I'd suggest is perhaps running some straight kill spells (Ultimate Price is one that is almost always useful) rather than Dead Weight, since Dead Weight can't do too much AND is at sorcery speed. Besides that, looks really cool :D

I was thinking about running Ultimate Price but I am worried about is the crazy amount of multi-colored cards in Standard right now.Although I suppose the pillars like Thragtusk, Restoration Angel and the other big threats are monocolored. I still have to lots of deck testing. I am planning on participating in Grand Prix Miami so I am deciding on what to take to try to beat the typical Junk Reanimator, American Control, Bant and most of all Jund decks.

I changed it just a tiny bit. I forgot about bloodthrone for a spell to be honest. I added him accordingly. I am still debating on the Thrull. I could remove Mutilate in the deck, but I do love that card.

How effective is Mutilate when you use it? Is it like a board wipe or does it just significantly weaken the other side of the board?

March 14, 2013 4:05 p.m.

x8bitGangsta says... #9

It is a board wipe. usually 4th turn I can pump at least 3 swamps, and that early game will pretty much clear the board. With Blood artist on the field, and that many things dying, the triggers alone could end the game

And i guess it would be a good late game sweep too so it seems pretty effective, what were you thinking of replacing it with?

March 14, 2013 4:11 p.m.

x8bitGangsta says... #11

More spot control, tho it will most likely stay. If I replace anything it would be entreat. That is just a fun card

Killing Wave, though it gives your opponent a choice (which usually isn't good), should work pretty well in your deck considering you don't really mind some of your things dying and you should be able to gain most of the life back from Blood Artist.

I would personally keep the Entreat the Angels it is great renewal when the aggro starts to slow down and you begin to move in to mid-game.

High Priest of Penance is a MUST in this deck if you plan on sacking creatures

High priest seems to situational for this deck, and a little to slow.

How about Devour Flesh or Tribute to Hunger in the SB ?

You can always find pesky Indestructible/Hexproof shiet that will bother you

dhoard1320 says... #17

To choose between the two, Devour Flesh and Tribute to Hunger I would definitely choose Devour Flesh because it is more flexible especially when you are getting desperate and have to use it on your own creatures.

I am still honestly considering Devour Flesh for either MB or SB I just need to test it out.

Barter in Blood is also an option considering you don't mind a couple of your creatures dying (only to come back).

March 14, 2013 7:33 p.m.

Portgaz says... #20

i dont think High Priest is to situational, you summon it for just 2 mana, and it makes your opponent question or not whether they want to attack or not. Doing so means they're probably gana lose something important, and if something tries to target a creature, sac the Priest.

x8bitGangsta says... #21

I can play test it, not sure where to fit it in at tho...I have considered Barter to be honest. I meant to add it to my maybe board. It can be a nice clear as well. I thought of dropping Mutilate for it. Tho I don't believe that will be cut.

Vampire Nighthawk is a great card that decks like these usually run to combat popular flyers like Restoration Angel, Sigarda, Host of Herons, etc. if your spirit tokens plus Vault of the Archangel doesn't do the job.

Sorin, Lord of Innistrad also is pretty good even as a one-of.

Also, Undying Evil is a seldom seen card that catches a lot of people by surprise and is worth thinking about.

Liking the take on an aggro orzhov deck, I was thinking of doing one myself. Good to see that it IS possible. Have you considered running Silverblade Paladin to help bolster the aggro? It pairs nicely with cartel aristocrat, but pairing it with a demon or an angel token would be quite funny.

Is pithing needle necessary in the sideboard? You can just use oblivion ring to deal with troublesome stuff, or is it there as an alternative to deal with superfriends decks on turn 1?

+1

High Priest of Penance dying to a sacrifice does not deal any damage to it, so the ability would not trigger.

I added The nighthawks to my sideboard for those match-ups. I originally had Sorin in the list, but removed for the two Entreats. I am still up in the air about them.

I am actually running a R/B/G Undying deck that uses that card and Guild Feud as well. It is a casual deck I have standard. It runs pretty well. i went 3-1 with it one day at FNM
