Lol, I see. You like to test other users....I kinda like that. You point was proven rather intelligently may I add. Never stooping low or result to outright calling the other or what they were saying "Stupid" You would be fun to debate with I must say. Especially with deck building.
I personally love Multi-Color. I will have to post my 5 color legacy deck up here. It runs one of my favorite creature types...Dragons hehe. The named ones mainly with outrages effects. I can get them going out on turn 2-3 most of the time turn 4 latest. Not bad on a six drop. the mana and the tinkering to be able to do that was a pain tho lmao. I will get it up here soon if work allows me the time to go through all my decks!
keep up the good work!

The deck is looking tight - nice work.
I see you stayed with the Diregraf Ghoul and have your deck at 15 one-drop CMC. Nice speed, plus makes it easier to extort. Bone Splinters was a good idea - don't think I would have picked up on that one. Do you find you get to use the remove +1 counter feature on Thrull Parasite much? The undying defense against board wipes is one of the things I like most about this deck.... plus all the life draining.
Coincidentally (and a little eerily) I was thinking about your deck earlier today and was in the process of trying to rebuild it and taking it for a spin... must be karma that I found it so easily today. Now I don't have to think too hard and will run with it as is.

Do the guildgates count as a swamp towards mutilate? And if not then you should use cavern of souls in place. Also do the chapels count as a swamp towards mutilate?
March 19, 2013 8:51 p.m.
Neither of those count as swamps. I don't think I would go with Cavern of Souls, as it's not a high land count and there isn't a large degree of common creature types (zombie & vampire being the largest), plus it can strand the instants/sorceries/planeswalkers for a time. I think the speed of the deck is being emphasized, wanting to make sure you hit a spell (or two) on each turn.

Exactly mate! They are in there to make sure I always hit my land when I need it. I am running a hand-full of spells that require at lest one white, and 2 that I need 2 for. The guildgates really do help me achieve that ratio I need.
As stated Cavern would do little to nothing for me here. More often than not it would be for 1 colorless.
@Agog Thanks mate! It has been a work in progress for some time, but I must say I am really happy at where it stands at the moment! It has a very nice body and it is very consistent.

I started building this deck and it's rocking in my area. But, I decided to splash red for Falkenrath Aristocrat. And threw in Restoration Angel to bounce messengers. Now at least here, it STOMPS everything

Another idea is Mikaeus, the Unhallowed to give all creatures undying.

I actually have none of her to my self. She is good, but I would have to rework the deck a tad bit to accommodate her. Rather a good bit lol, but it could be done. Add your dual lands take out to obzedat and sorin for 4 of her or go with two up to you.
Take out Mutilate at that point. Add some more cheap removal or Brimstone volly for the 5 to face for 3.
My original deck design had her in it, 3-4 copies. She proved to slow for me and this deck and her flicker not always really great. I found Thrull easier and cheaper for counter manipulation.
ANYWAY I am really glad you like the deck and it is working so well for you there! I am also glad your changes are doing so well. If I had the Falkenrath I probably would have ran her my self. Tho I did just trade away the blood crypts I had....anyway, I may play with angel again one day. Just traded away 2 for a CRAP TON of cards. Just two left.
And The unhallowed would be too slow for this deck and wouldn't round out right I feel.

This deck win loss record is like %92 win percentage....at least for me. I mean FNM I went 12 games undefeated alone. Never once going 2-1. The play test before hand were great as well. The only deck it has lost to so far is my turn 2 Thundermaw hellkite deck. That can hit the warleader on turn 3 for a turn 3 win you can't stop really. Aurelia's Flicker
here is the deck if you guys want to look. I am still fine tuning it. I am also working on my new Gruul. It is different from all the other gruuls, well mostly. I can play off graveyard while be aggressive and then Fling my creature at you. Gruul to be kind

What about Skirsdag High Priest? He seems like he could really ruin somebody's day with all of the sac engines you have, and if anything it can give you a blocker.
March 21, 2013 8:38 a.m.
This is a really good deck. However, when play-testing it against mine (Standard on a Budget: Counters) I found that drawing Blood Artist was almost necessary to win for 2 out of 3 games. The situation would be, there's a stalemate on the board with your deck having lots of blockers but nothing to swing with, and you need a Blood Artist to get me to 0 before I give my massive Predator Ooze trample, or draw a bomb like Garruk, Primal Hunter.
Have you considered adding, or at least sideboarding, Falkenrath Noble to mitigate this problem? I know he has an expensive CMC but I think it might be worth it for you. I would lose the 2x Diregraf Ghoul for 2x Nobles.
Let me know what you think, and please give me suggestions on my deck as well!

Lol, There was maybe 1 out of 4 games for me where I NEEDED him on the board to win. Usually he is there, but the deck wins without him easily enough. At least for me.I will play test against yours and see and take a look when I can.
The noble I believe to be to slow for this. I would rather not drop him on turn 4, when I may have a bunch of other options. I can consider him and try him out to give a fair shot and to not shoot down solid advice.

Just for reference, can you explain how this deck's combo's work?
March 21, 2013 2:33 p.m.
No not really, I get the point of them, but when I tested it, I found them to not be entirely necessary.

They just came in more use than the ghoul, so I figured I might increase their use, tho I love the split and line-up I have
@Shabobi I will add how it works to the description later when I get more time. I am only on break at work lol.
March 21, 2013 2:48 p.m.
Knock out a tragic slip for a thrull. thrull parasite is prolly one of the best cards printed this block, hands down. If it doesn't get removed, you basically win the game. Its dirty. My gf got me with a turn 5 mutilate for 3 extort for 1 and without extort I'd be at 1. So nasty.
March 21, 2013 3:57 p.m.
Or even knock out a souls for a thrull, your cmc will be faster, when you run 2 souls you run 4 basically because of flashback. Just my ideas =)
March 21, 2013 4 p.m.
Adding another Thrull Parasite does seem worth trying - they are far more effective than I gave them credit. It's a touch choice between Lingering Souls and Diregraf Ghoul.
Personally I would replace the ghoul first, although you lose a zombie for Gravecrawler retrieval (and exchange a 2/2 round 1 card for a 1/1). Lingering Souls is such an efficient card that extorts twice and puts up so many flying sac targets, I find it hard to reduce their card count. Plus souls provides recovery to a board wipe, which is part of your deck strategy.
March 21, 2013 4:50 p.m.
Hey 8bit, check out my deck and tell me where you think i should slip in Thrull Parasite; Heaven, Hell, and the Negotiators
March 21, 2013 4:53 p.m.
I slipped it in instead of Diregraf Ghoul, but you might have a better idea.
March 21, 2013 4:58 p.m.
I've been having a lot of fun with this deck. I love the synergy. Thrull Parasite is a way better card than I thought it was.
Vos_Is_Boss says... #1
Nope that's perfect. Most of the time i'm only playing devil's advocate when arguing cards (but i never tell them that). I really want to see which people actually think about their deck, or those who are just going to copy anything I say.
About the morbid, some are kiiiind of good, Brimstone Volley being the only really good one. Which is why i originated the suggestion. You answered correctly, however, congratulations :)
Also, with this whole Sigarda, Host of Herons thing. She is in fact, one of the best creature in standard for her cost. Especially in scenarios where you're in the lead. I just thought the level of obnoxiousness coming out of that child was appalling, and had to prove it through an argument... which I did :3
(and yes i got your comment, that was sweet of you) I think the most fun I've had playing a deck in a long time is my Five Color Mythics deck. haha, it actually works most of the time, which surprised me. Oh well, like the ravnica days of old, everyone will be playiing 4-5 color decks soon anyway.
