Oh, and like I said on my deck page, I'm not much of a mono-black player unfortunately. If anything I've said there is questionable, feel free to call me out on it.

v4v3On Staff of the Death Magus , it's only if it enters under your control, you know. I took most of the suggestions, thanks for the +1, if that was you.

Oh, my bad. I've only ever played the card in duels of the planeswalkers. Even if they were affected by opponents I wouldn't run it haha. It was me who +1'd. This build is creative! That's what I love to see.

I snuck it onto the feature queue for you. :)

Hi, I think that if you like Korlash, Heir to Blackblade and he fetches you swamps then try Mutilate or Corrupt to really control the board more. +1 from me by the way.

Very nice(+1)! Korlash is one of my favorite black creatures for sure! Don't have any suggestions for you, but I have a similar casual build: Death Rising

I personally would switch the Nightmare for the 4th Korlash. You get the extra chance of drawing 2 of them, and Korlash costs 2 less and gives 1 more devotion than nightmare does. Flying is cool, but ramping up to play a bigger Exsanguinate or an earlier Griselbrand I think would fit the deck a little better.

Thanks GeminiSpartanX, but I can regularly cast Griselbrand turn 5 with Crypt Ghast , but thank you, I will consider another Korlash.

Might wanna include the Sanguine Bond +Exquisite Blood combo in the description, it's awsome

It barely ever happens, actually might take out Sanguine Bond . Thanks for the +1!

I LOVE the Korlash + Whip combo...and I love everything about the deck!

I for one would probably run Sanguine Bond over Exquisite Blood (only because you have a lot of life-gain via lifelink, extort, and Exsanguinate , it adds one more devotion, and it gives all of your life-linker's effective-double-strike and makes all of your life gain spells also hurt the opponent)...basically it kills them more quickly :) And you appear to have ample life.

Having said this, however; you know better than I do how the deck plays out; and you may need a bunch of life-gain to stay alive in a format as fast as Modern. Regardless; this is an AWESOME deck....a surefire +1!

Thank you so much! That means a lot coming from you, CurdBrosBrewingCo!

Hey there! It's not the biggest deal in the world, but a Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth would be cool in this deck. It turns your Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx into Swamps as well...while this is marginal value; it can't hurt to put it in as a one-of as it is a Swamp itself.

April 8, 2014 10:31 p.m.

I apologize if this was suggested before..

I don't put enough non-swamp lands in, so Urborg will not work out, sorry.

April 10, 2014 7:09 p.m.

I am probably unaware as to how Urborg effects every aspect of the game...I don't play a ton of black; so I probably don't know ail the downsides to the card beyond the "non-basic" land destruction cards out there (however things like Ghost Quarter which are popular have you grab a swamp anyways...)

I was under the impression that Urborg was in fact was a swamp and would also turn the Nykthos's into swamps as well...I figured there was very little downside to adding it as a one-of and running 20 swamps; but it also would only help you in games where you had it and a Nykthos in play early and needed BBBB for some of your heavier costed cards...

I also may be wrong as to how the card works and its downsides. No biggy though. In the end; it would be a marginal improvement anyways (and who knows; it may help a random opponent or two fix their mana in weird situations :). Great deck regardless!

And no need to be sorry. It's your deck and you know best how it runs and if certain suggestions won't work . That's very kind of you though. Its rare someone is both kind and a heck of a brewer! I'd +2 you but they won't let me :)

I'm a lover of the mono black myself, plus

Not really a fan of Liliana of the Dark Realms . It also seems like you might be able to upgrade Victim of Night a little. Though I am not sure how often you have to deal with humans in modern. Zombies, and Werewolves do not seem like an issue though. I guess you have to weigh humans/non artifact/non black against each other.

I just think you need a little more early game stuff. That way you don't have a dead turn. When I play tested turns one and 2 were more often dead then not. Maybe some Thoughtseize

I did not get what you said about Victim of Night . Could you please rephrase?

April 15, 2014 5:18 p.m.

Anublet90 says... #21

He's saying he's not sure if Victim of Night would be more useful than Doom Blade , Dark Betrayal etc. to you, and that you know your local meta better than he does, so, you know...

Accordingly.

Didgeridooda says... #22

Neither did I apparently. Vampire not human. Yup seems fine in there. Sorry.

My main point though, is making sure turns one and 2 have more options.
