The Blood Sisters

Blood Sisters

  • The Soul Sisters Joining with the Blood-Brothers

Here's a little backstory I wrote in theme with the MTG Universe about how Soul Warden & Blood Artist joined forces, resulting in this deck. Enjoy!

The Sisters stood for everything that is good, together they brought life to everyone who stood with them. Individually they were rather week, but with the right comrades they grew strong and were a force to be reckoned with. Their fame grew as well, Avacyn, Angel of Hope noticed the life they were enriching and the good they were doing and named them "The Soul Sisters" As time passed new & stronger enemies arrived. The Soul-Sisters, while still strong, knew they needed to become stronger. The Sisters searched through the White Plains in hopes of finding stronger allies to join their cause. The search yielded nothing but Lingering Souls who spoke of two powerful Creatures that were referred to as "The Blood-Brothers". The Soul Sisters set out to meet the so called "Blood Brothers"

They were vampires & miscreants that could be found in the black Swamps. They stood for nothing the Soul-Sisters did. They threw their so called comrades into a Spawning Pit to win a battle, they drained life from their victims, they cheated, stole and lied. The only honesty was in the rumors of their strength. There was an obvious disconnect between the two groups. The Soul-Sisters despised what the Blood-Brothers were and what they stood for, but they knew of their strength & if they weren't in such desperate need for Stronger allies they would show them the Path to Exile. The Sisters sent Ranger of Eos to track them, after weeks of searching he found the Brothers and transported the Sisters to him. They took a glance at the Brothers, and hesitantly asked them to join them. Upon asking, the Blood-Brothers looked at the Sisters Group of Humans & angels. They could tell they were strong as well, and could see the potential they could have as a group. Still they were hesitant on joining. This began the Soul-Sisters Plunge into Darkness

After what seemed like hours of silence & thinking the Brothers responded "You want us to join eh? We'll join on one condition. We're not working with Angels or the Martyr of Sands. And we need Swamps a few Godless Shrines & Isolated Chapels to allow our Magic to work." The Soul-Sisters needed to get stronger, and this was the way. They knew there was no way to talk the Brothers out of it, so they kicked the Angels from the group, Avacyn, Angel of Hope was displeased with them & said they had lost there soul in there Plunge into Darkness .

From then on they were known only as "The Blood Sisters"

~ Onto going over the deck itself!

~Soul Warden & Soul's Attendant

-Staples of the Deck. Massive Life-Gain. Enables every other card.

~ Blood Artist & Zulaport Cutthroat

-The other Staple of the Deck. More Life-Gain & Drain, and adds a Kamikaze aspect to the deck.

- Lingering Souls & Spectral Procession

~Tokens & more tokens to trigger Soul Warden
~Creatures to sac for Blood Artist ~Feeds Spawning Pit,losing 2 power for 2 power.

- Spawning Pit & Viscera Seer

~ Spawning Pit seems like an odd choice for a sac engine, there's better creature sac engines (like Viscera Seer). However Spawning Pit not being a creature makes it more likely to stick & can create more tokens, giving more reach when going kamikaze.

~ Viscera Seer is to have a Sac-Engine target for Ranger of Eos

~ Ajani's Pridemate & Ranger of Eos

~Ranger of Eos is a must in this deck. - Low on life? Fetch Soul Warden & Soul's Attendant - Going for the kill? Grab Viscera Seer & Doomed Traveler; Go Kamikaze.

~ Sorin, Solemn Visitor & Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
  • Tokens each turn, gives life-link to a pumped up Ajani's Pridemate, or an Anthem for the tokens .
Turn 1: Soul Warden

Turn 2: Blood Artist; Opponent at 19. Gain 1

Turn 3: Lingering Souls; Opponent at 18. Gain 2

Turn 4: Ranger of Eos-Fetch Viscera Seer & Doomed Traveler Opponent at 14. Gain 1

Turn 5: Flashback Lingering Souls - Zulaport Cutthroat - Doomed Traveler Opponent at 7. Gain 4

Turn 6 - Viscera Seer - Blood Artist Zulaport Cutthroat. -- Sac all for 35 damage. Gain 38 life. Opponent at -17 life. You're at a max of 64 life.

Obviously this is best case scenario. You're probably going to lose a few creatures along the way, counters, etc. Still, you'll often find yourself being able to drain & gain for a ton of life at some point in the game

-The Deck still needs some fine tuning. Suggestions and help are very welcome!
