The trick to finding cards for Modern is being really good at using the Gatherer tool. There are a lot of different cool directions you could go with this deck using all the cards available in Modern. I can teach you how to do this fairly easily, if you like.

For now, let's keep it simple. Exquisite Blood is great with Vizkopa Guildmage. Infinite Combo. I also recommend either adding Venser the Sojourner to make your lifelink creatures unblockable, or replacing some lifelink creatures with more reliable damage, lifegain or life loss effects (Extort, Inquisitor Exarch, Cathedral Sanctifier, Mind Whip, etc.)

With no sideboard for more control, this will be destroyed by anything that does have one. In Modern, with so many options for deckbuilding, you have to be a little bit prepared for anything. One of my favourite ways to do this is with Isochron Scepter and, in this case, spells like Divine Offering, Serene Offering, and 2-drop counters.

Here's a list of 2-drop counters that could be useful to you:

Countersquall, Hindering Light, Trial//Error, Mana Leak, Redirect

And that's not counting all the cheap ones like Negate and Essence Scatter that you're used to from Standard. There's also a few useful, more expensive counters, in case you're interested:

Soul Manipulation, Perplex, Punish the Ignorant

And that, for Modern, was keeping it simple and giving you just a few options to toy with.

Oh, and I forgot to tell you about Glimpse the Unthinkable.

This is a very rough draft for right now. If you have any ideas for a sideboard, feel free to say. I just had no clue where to start.

Like I said, I like Isochron Scepter and cheap instants. I'm just wondering if that's a direction you want to go in. There's other ways to get you the control you need. But anyway, a sideboard like I was recommending would look something like this:

3x Isochron Scepter (which is also good with Thought Scour), 3x Countersquall, 3x Trial//Error, 3x Divine Offering, 3x Serene Offering

Now, this doesn't leave you as much in the way of creature control as you'd like, but you can take care of that with deathtouch in the mainboard, and maybe Detention Sphere or something.

If you don't like the look of this, I can teach you how to use Gatherer efficiently and effectively, so you can find the cards you do like. That's part of the fun of building in Modern: the sheer variety.

I actually like that setup. I already have quite a few of the mentioned cards which saves time and money, plus it sounds great.

I already know how to use the gatherer efficiently, but sometimes I can overlook some things that could really help my deck move along. I made some adjustments which I plan to upload in a few minutes. I added stuff like Blood Reckoning and Diabolic Tutor . After doing some metagaming with my planned setup, it appears to work quite well. If you wish, you could critique some more. I appreciate any help that you want to give.

Haha, appreciate the shout-out. The reason I recommended you go in that direction with your sideboard was so that you'd get more out of Thought Scour with a draw-every-turn cycle going on. Now that your deck has no instants except in the sideboard, swapping in a Scepter AND the instants it requires to be effective might feel forced.

So - playtest before you acquire those Scepters. They are a bit pricey, after all. And if it doesn't work out, there are pleeenty of other ways to go for control.

Oh, don't worry about the scepters. I already have a playset from when I ran serious control. I am still on the fence about taking out the thought scours, and I may put them back in. Until I can playtest, I can't be sure, just like you said.
