This is a deck that my friend Alex Mutch built and refined throughout the Theros block (Theros/RTR). It won him FNM 12 consecutive times, but is sadly no longer standard legal. With his permission I decided I'd share it with everyone! Enjoy!

Here's an example of a turn two Worldspine Wurm, for a turn 3 win:

Turn 1: Forest into Elvish Mystic

Turn 2: Play Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and 3 Burning-Tree Emissary. Activate shrine, play Garruk, Caller of Beasts, -3 Garruk, Caller of Beasts: bring out the wurm

Turn 3: Draw and play Rogue's Passage. +1 Garruk, Caller of Beasts to draw Xenagos, God of Revels. Activate Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx to activate Rogue's Passage and target Wordspine Wurm. With the remaining mana from Nykthos, cast Xenagos. Swing for an unblockable 30 damage from the wurm.

Although this combo is legendary, it's not consistent (even if Alex has used it to win game 3 of an FNM finals). A well placed counter, or even a simple Shock will interrupt the entire combo. As a result, the Burning-Tree Emissarys and Worldspine Wurm live in the sideboard most games.

*Note: Keep in mind that this was build to be a standard deck, not a modern deck. That being said, I believe it to still be modern viable; I decided to make a more consistent and hopefully competitive version of this deck (without changing the core cards involved with the mechanics).
