I feel that Wingsteed Rider is a little costly. Cavalry Pegasus is not only flying, but it also gives my other creatures flying. I'm not quite sure what to swap for it, any suggestions there?

Have you considered Akroan Crusader ? I think it creates a nice synergism with Anax and Cymede and Phalanx Leader . Getting tokens of soldiers and pumping them out would be nice. I also suggests you to cut down 2 Cavalry Pegasus because it works more like a tool to give your guys flying than a creature itself. I think Soldier of the Pantheon could be a sideboard against multicolored decks as the meta game right now is composed of many devotion decks. My suggestion overall - 2 Cavalry Pegasus -2 Soldier of the Pantheon +4 Akroan Crusader .

I'll try that out. I had Akroan Crusader when I first made the deck, but there were times when I was stuck with a bunch of 1/1 creatures. I think your changes would help that though. Thanks for the advice!

Another suggestion I would give is about Madcap Skills . I feel that it's a little bit outside of the heroic trigger proposition. It's a good card but in this deck I feel it does not reach its full potential. I mean there's no creature which has an effect when it deals damage to a player which would make this card even better and reaching its full potential. You might have play tested it and think differently. I would like to know your opinion on it. If it would be one of my decks, I would cut it out and add +2 Titan's Strength to have trigger and scry to take lands out of the way and +2 Legion Loyalist which could give creatures trample and first strike.

I do like the idea of Legion Loyalist going in from the sideboard, it would speed me up a turn with haste, and then does give my creatures abilities. As to Madcap Skills I have used it because it's a permanent bonus, Say you use Titan's Strength on Favored Hoplite this makes him a 5/4 until end of turn, but if something happens and he doesn't deal damage, he goes back down to a 2/2. With madcap I like that he would stay at 5/3 permanently. I consider the required double block to be more of an added bonus, so really I don't capitalize on that part. This has run me into trouble in the past though, if my opponent draws a Selesnya Charm and my creature is stuck above that 5 power, it can be a problem.

This problem with Selesnya Charm , Cyclonic Rift , Hero's Downfall , Supreme Verdict and so many other removals is one of the reasons I don't like that much auras on creatures that does not have hexproof or some protection from colors like Soldier of the Pantheon . You are always in a 2 for 1 situation where you lose 2 cards for one removal the opponent has. You have to be aware that you may face a lot of these situations, especially when control and mono devotion decks are always making the top 8. You will receive a lot of Azorius Charm too. I would play auras if my creatures have hexproof or if the aura gives me hexproof, or now in this ambient of enchantment creatures where the auras can turn into creatures and this situation is minimized.

Well either way control is hard to deal with for rush decks. I would disagree about the 2 for 1. I feel like either way you are losing the same amount of cards. If they see you pumping up a creature with an instant they can just take it out on the stack and the instant does nothing. Then you still have the fact that instants are gone next turn regardless. So I'd say either way you have the same amount of risk.

Just a suggestion i run essentially the same thing in my W/R Heroic deck i run 4x Gods Willing instead of brave i know brave is for every creature but for heroic abilities i find Gods Willing to be better suited

Alright I'll make a few changes quick and see how all the suggestions play out. Thanks for all the help!

I'd throw in more Boros Charm and Rootborn Defenses in the sideboard for esper control for the indestructibilty. Also, I'd consider Assemble the Legion , that way, even after board wipes, you'll still get tokens next turn. Since you do have so many instants, Young Pyromancer could work in the main board.

I did have room to try out Young Pyromancer so I'll see how he goes. I put Rootborn Defenses in the sideboard because I actually had 2 open slots. I'm conflicted on Assemble the Legion because if I draw it in my opening hand it will slow me down. I might try it in the sideboard. Thanks!

Fabled Hero Is a little costly but it gets very tough to deal with if you trigger heroic a couple times
December 11, 2013 1:30 a.m.
I am thinking of making a few more changes that could include Fabled Hero or maybe even Fencing Ace but I haven't had the chance to play around with ideas recently. While I love Legion Loyalist as a card, he isn't a human, there are times where I can run into trouble. At the same time, I feel that he does essentially what Anax and Cymede does for 2 mana less, it is also my only card over 2 mana. I will get more of a chance to make changes now that finals are over, so we will see where this goes.

I would add in the fabled heroes especially since you have plenty of cards to proc heroic :)

I think your land base should definitely include 4x Sacred Foundry for fixing. Flames of the Firebrand is great for mirror match/other weenie aggro, but maybe expensive for removal against anything else?
March 2, 2014 3:02 a.m.
Yeah that would definitely work, nothing is more frustrating than being stuck with say Phalanx Leader and just a plains and a mountain. Thanks!

Spinner80 I made this back around when Theros was released and it would always get out of hand fast, however that was awhile ago and I took apart the deck since then. Once JOU is released I'll be able to put it back together to try it out as playing with Launch the Fleet would prove problematic at the moment Haha.

Ethereal armor main board. If you are willing to play Madcap Skills why not Boros Charm?
