Based on the build by Pascal Maynard from CFB, for PTBFZ, with some tweaks to take into account a broader metagame.
Liliana, Heretical Healer
is one of the most expensive cards in the deck, and can be swapped out for other cards of a similar effect. Carrier Thrall and Qarsi Sadist are both solid options for replacing them.
Also, if someone wants to try some Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
, Some can be swapped in, in place of the Grim Haruspexes, but should also include some other instants or sorceries, such as Dig Through Time or Treasure Cruise
The other expensive cards are much less replaceable, such as the Hangarback Walker, which is one of the linchpins of the combo finish of the deck.
Sideboard tech:
Anti-Ananfenza tech: Anafenza, the Foremost completely shuts down a lot of the mechanics of this deck, so taking her out is key. For this, a sizable amount of the sideboard is brought in, but it has value elsewhere. Those cards are: Despise, Horribly Awry, Infinite Obliteration.
Complete Disregard: Jeskai, GW Megamorph, and any deck that runs Hangarback Walkers.
Despise: Anafenza (Abzan), Control (can also hit planeswalkers),
Disdainful Stroke: Abzan, Jeskai, Control, and Ramp strategies.
Dispel: Any deck that runs instants, but foremost you want it against Atarka Red or RG Landfall to stop that combo.
Duress: Atarka Red/RG Landfall and Control.
Horribly Awry: Abzan (save for Anafenza), Jeskai, GW Megamorph
Infinite Obliteration: Anafenza (Abzan), Esper Dragons, Eldrazi Ramp
Negate: Atarka Red/RG Landfall and Control.
