• Let me first point out, before you read the rest, that I self impose building restrictions on myself so I don't go off into the deep end of power creep. Currently, I'm only building decks with post-modern frame cards, ie cards printed in the M15 frame. This allows me to build interesting decks that aren't overpowered [read: unfun to play against].

BLUE BOMBER

I have a penchant for building mono-colored decks, but prior to this deck I did not have one based around . Partly this is because a player in my old EDH group constructed quite a powerful Thassa deck, and I didn't want the group to get overly sick of playing against blue based decks. When opponents start mainboarding Choke or Boil in their decks you know you've went too far.

I decided to build around Arcanis instead of Talrand or Baral because, honestly, I didn't want to be the threat out of the gate, specifically against new opponents. Most players view Arcanis as an expensive to cast, durdle king. In most regards I agree. Another reason I chose him/she/it as my general is because I've always loved the card and the art. To me, it symbolized everything blue means: drawing cards, bouncing creatures, and providing tactical options.

  • A more detailed description is forthcoming, time permitting.

Deck Goals:

Draw tons of cards, eliminate opponents using Psychosis Crawler.

Use Paradox Engine, mana rocks, and Arcanis, draw your deck and slowly accumulate mana advantage.

Create infinite mana with Deadeye Navigator and Peregrine Drake to make an enormous Walking Ballista or Blue Sun's Zenith.

Create bounce loops using Engulf the Shore/Evacuation and Mnemonic Wall to prevent death by combat.
