My take on Blue Moon. I have been playing Skred Red for awhile now and I have been wanting to make it more than 1 color. I think Blue Moon gives me what I am looking for. This build combines my favourite aspects of Skred Red with Blue Moon. While I lose Koth of the Hammer as a win con I trade it out for utility and awesome win cons such as: Keranos, God of Storms and
jace,vryn's prodigy
. Oh and depending on the deck Vedalken Shackles is more than capable of winning me the game. Now for the card choices...
Enchantments
Blood Moon: A silver bullet against many decks right now. Is relevant against man lands and shuts down greedy mana bases.
Spreading Seas: Oh you managed to get a basic land out? Wouldn't it be a shame if it became useless to you...
Instants
Lightning Bolt: I don't think this one needs any explination.
Skred: The whole purpose of using snow covered lands in this deck is for this card. Instead of focusing on counter spells which can be way to situational I am instead taking a page out of skred red... if you cant counter it, burn it with fire! This spell will kill the vast majority of creature. Where I run into trouble is creatures that are ahead of the curve such as Loxodon Smiter.
Sorcery
Roast: Brings the total number of "kill spells" in this deck to 10. If I include the fact that theres 4 snaps and jace this means I can easily have access to more than 10.
Serum Visions: Card draw is something skred red lacked. I think this 1 mana sorcery solves many of the problems skred ran into.
Anger of the Gods: Solid red sweeper that will exile the creatures upon death.
Lands
Scalding Tarn / Misty Rainforest: These enable me to thin out my deck and help me get a red source allwhile running as many islands as possible for Vedalken Shackles.
Snow-Covered Island
/
Snow-Covered Mountain
: I run these over regular basics for the purpose of enabling Skred.
Steam Vents: Because sometimes the misty rainforest needs to be able to fetch a red source. This as a 1 of solves many early game problems for me.
Creatures / Win Con's
Keranos, God of Storms: I run this guy as a two of to increase my chances of drawing him. The vast majority of decks have 0 ways of interacting with this card in the main board. Once he hits he can star clearing the board by bolting creatures, bolting the opponent or drawing me extra cards. He is plan A.
Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
: It turns out Jace is good. Being able to flip him easily and re-use old Skred's or other spells is very good. If need be I can also get him to ult which will eventually win me the game. He is plan B.
Vedalken Shackles: Nice creatures you have there. It would be a shame if something happened to them... These artifacts are plan C as far as my win cons go.
Snapcaster Mage: The good old snapcaster beatdown is plan D. Besides being used as a back up back up back up win con he enables me to get tons of value out of my skreds and bolts.
