MXDK I think Encase in Ice is extremly meta dependant. The only upside you get is Flash, since the 6 mana untap thing hardly matters. Mizzium Meddler doesnt have anything for him to target. Theres no burn, and wasting a 3 CMC slot on something like Firery Impulse is dumb, Atarka Red wins with mass buff most of the time anyway.

nakroma is exactly right, bellstrike also hit jace which is amazing to shutdown so easily

Got 3rd at FNM with my own Mono Blue spell recycling deck. Usually get last or close to it when trying to get a new Living Lore variation deck to work. So it's a nice change.

Any time I got a Sword of the Animist or Slab Hammer, I won. Those cards, in this deck combo simply gives me a large advantage that overcomes even my many beginner screwups.

First game I won with the deck I never got above three lands due to Slab each turn. The weapons just go so well with cheap control creatures that I think they need to be considered in a deck like this.

What do you think about Sidisi's faithful in this deck.

December 11, 2015 7:07 p.m.

Sidisis faithful is a very defensive card and this deck sits more on the aggressive side

So I'm currently making this deck and as I was looking through my blue cards I came across neutralizing blast which may fit in sideboard somewhere, and dance of the skywise. Do you think the dance could be played, just came to mind Because you could get a 4/4 turn 2.

In what kind of situations would you use reality shift?

Thank you for posting this deck. I have recently started playing again and with very few standard legal cards. I was looking at the format and thought an aggro control deck would work well against all the midrange. I was brewing up my own version of mono u fish when I found this list. I have adopted much of its core shell. Here is what I'm currently running and still tuning:
20 Island
2 Blighted Cataract
4 Faerie Miscreant
3 Stratus Dancer
2 Hangarback Walker
4 Eldrazi Skyspawner
3 Halimar Tidecaller
1 Shorecrasher Elemental
4 Whirler Rogue
4 Clutch of Currents
2 Mirror Mockery
3 Horribly Awry
3 Negate
2 War Horn
3 Scatter to the Winds
Sideboard
4 Reality Shift
3 Dispel
3 Jhessian Thief
1 Negate
1 Horribly Awry
1 Disdainful Stroke
1 Mirror Mockery
1 Scatter to the Winds

So far I've won three FNMs in a row, but only winning 50 percent of my matches at the weekly Standard tournament. Abzan Aggro seems to be a bad matchup right now. What would you suggest for a sideboard plan? I thought Atarka Red would be a bad matchup but so far I have won all three matches against two different opponents. This deck does really well against other home brews. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hello, no skyline cascade to help with creature tapping? Setting up Harbinger for removal and attacks?

+1 though, great deck!

December 23, 2015 2:55 p.m.

against abzan aggro you really do have to out pace and out smart them wardens get out of control, normally well timed harbinger followed but a counter spell, skyline cascade doesnt tap creatures unfortunately, nice deck abzan aggro is generally a difficult match, abzan doesnt know what soceries(besides there turn one hand disruption) are so i bring in dispels and horribly awrys, reality shifts to stop literally any of there really good creatures, it still is a hard match up and whirler and shorecrasher often pull heavy weight

quite new to Magic - was just wondering... what's the general strategy between casting creature cards face-up and casting them face-down and megamorphing later? Like when is it preferable to do those options

December 30, 2015 1:01 p.m.

Treiz says... #19

it basically depends on which creature : 1. gudul lurker - face down only at mid-late game so he can be more relevant . 2. Stratus dancer - i play it face-down only after 5 mana so i can play him and flip him to counter a spell and make him a 3/2 .3. Shorecrasher elemental - When you exile it it becomes face-down but i otherwise rarely face-down him on my own right from the hand.

If your gonna run Stubborn Denial, you could run Frost Walkers to trigger the ferocious and it is a aggro card.

any advice on beating black/white ally decks? Having a hard time countering the battlefield triggers and this deck doesn't have board wipes

Finally played this deck. Sort of.Can't find more dancers or rogues so replaced two slots each with Monastery and spy network. I replaced a couple negate, scatter, and horns for Sigil of Valor and Silumgar Sorcerer. Three each.

Biggest issue with this deck, aside from mana shuffling, is card draw. Even with the temporary replacements for dancer and rogue, I always seem to run low on cards and therefore get outplayed in the later game when I do get good starting mana.

I did get a couple wins thanks to Valor letting my faerie or lurker to hit, with at certain times, a 10/10 unblockable. The War Horn is nice for going wide. But that is not always possible. Especially in the early game. I think 3 of each artifact is going to be my setting for a while. It can also combine with Shorecrasher Elemental to add even more power due to the toughness addition. War Horn is only a power boost, and leaves you undefended. Not a complete replacement since War Horn deals more if unblocked. But just like the Horn, Valor stacks as well and can turn even a lurker or faerie into a finisher.

I myself got very little out of my Shorecrasher that I could not get from another creature. The fact that I needed mana open to counter spells was a major turn off. The lack of rogues in my deck sure didn't help.

I also want to test the Dragon Throne of Tarkir. Shorecrasher could do well with it for a turn 5 smash. Pump your faerie and lurker with a minimum +3 trample for 8 unblocked damage, then add more converting touhghness on turn 6 for a total of 12. That's 20 damage over two turns, assuming you only use two creatures.

Spy Network can be amazing if you have enough artifacts. My UW deck UW Thopters Rule has been doing very well that way. I'm sure you could run it straight blue, dropping some of the white removal for your blue tricks.

And why doesn't your sideboard run Profaner of the Dead? Nothing beats enemy aggro decks like returning all their potential attackers to hand.
