Not bad for a very cheap deck. I wouldn't run 4 Diabolic Tutor , mainly because you're searching for a card that you most likely won't be able to play this turn. Read the Bones is really nice, because it lets you dig through four cards for the card you want, and gets you two cards for the price of one, rather than one for one. There's a reason why its considered the most powerful common of Theros and overshadows many of the rares. I'd run two of each. The Whip of Erebos also lets you sac one more time, and gives you lifelink allowing you to survive longer and essentially doubling damage when you also have Sanguine Bond (which you could go down to 4 with). Some straight removal is also nice, such as Doom Blade (or Hero's Downfall , but that's expensive), or Devour Flesh .

From personal experience running a similar deck. It's very slow to get all the cards into play with this combo. I like the splash of red though. You might want to drop Portent of Betrayal if you have Act of Treason already. It's up to you though. Essentially you're paying one more mana to use Scry. I would only run 3 Bogbrew Witch if you have your Tutors helping you out. Although 4 Diabolic Tutor is too many considering it's cost. You might want to put 2 Doom Blade & 2 Ultimate Price .

Aakash.Barevadia: Good points. -2 Diabolic Tutor +2 Read the Bones . I don't have direct removals because I can usually just eat their creatures by myself. With eight cards that gain control of their creatures and Festering Newt putting -4/-4s on something when it dies, I usually am facing an open board. '

zaxinou: I like having eight cards that steal their creatures. I like the flavor that it brings and the effect it has. I probably will drop a Bogbrew Witch since I can tutor it, though.

Might I suggest splashing white for Gift of Immortality and/or Athreos, God of Passage ? Both provide some excellent recurrence options for your newts. Athreos can make them pay life, but if he's too expensive Gift of Immortality makes them need an instant speed removal spell if they really want to kill your newts.

@SquatchBearPig: I've been thinking of reworking to either splash white or rework the deck to be BW and splash red. I think the new Dictate of Erebos would be really nice to replace Sanguine Bond with. Sanguine Bond is just winmore, and it doesn't help much.

First off, Lightning Bolt and Dragonskull Summit aren't standard legal, so if you ever went to a tournament, you would get kicked out because you don't have a deck that's legal. Second, why not add Underworld Connections instead of Read the Bones ?Last, I like the idea of white in the deck, because then you can run Athreos, God of Passage and Vizkopa Guildmage .

ShokDragon: Yep, this is casual. I'd switch out for shocks and shock lands if I wanted to play standard. I do like Underworld Connections but right now I really need all of the mana I can get each turn. Having to leave a land up would hurt pretty bad sometimes. I am seriously considering running Athreos and Guildmage though.

The thing is, with Underworld Connections , you can still tap it for mana. It's just for those turns when you don't have anything to play with that one mana, or if you had left it up for a Lightning Bolt in your opponent's turn but didn't have to play one.

Very fair point. I'll see if I have a few laying around to throw in there. I'm not sure I'm in love with Dictate of Erebos , anyway. Lowering the curve couldn't hurt, especially when it generates card advantage at the same time.

Yeah, you don't need it much, I mean, when you don't have a witch turn four, you're gonna want to search your library for it or draw more cards to dig. A card that you might want to put in from m15 is Indulgent Tormentor , one of my favourites. He gets you extra cards, and if he doesn't causes heavy consequinces. Also, he is one of the only things capable of dealing significant damage other than the witch combo.
