Card draw is really + really important in EDH to avoid top-decking in the latter half of the game. Life gain Loxodon Warhammer or Vampiric Link and/or some removal cards (sideboard) Lux Cannon could also prove a slight boon.

Also, if you are going to splash black, search cards are amazing. Not all search cards cost big $$$ like Imperial Seal, there is a slou of more recent black search cards (M14 on) that are rather inexpensive. Lastly, I notice that your potential deck is packed full of mana gen instants and artifacts which is good. However, you do not have any real pump sorceries like Drain Life which is fine, but some of the "charge cards" like Fireball have the potential to change your end-game significantly (especially those that do damage AND return life). In EDH I play mono-black and mono-white primarily, so I may have some spare black cards that I could send ya' LB. The next time that you think about it, shoot me a text or email with yer' address and I will take a look through my inventory.

Fair enough ideas buddy, the Veteran's Armaments does suit your deck (based on creature type), but if it doesn't fit the feel of your deck don't use it. I am dead serious about your need for draw cards though, (card access often = Winner) and I cannot stress this enough: if you are not going to have a bunch of black search cards, that you pick up a Reforge the Soul and/or Wheel of Fortune. As far as my earlier suggestions, Dauthi Embrace is amazing! Very few people sideboard against shadow as it was only in two sets (Tempest and Time-Spiral), but it is an enchantment and as such is prone to removal cards from green, white, and blue. Lastly, buy a Soul Spike and a Pulse of the Forge even if you do not use them. Soul Spike has saved my life countless times and Pulse of the Forge is awesome because it is renewable and can level the playing field quickly in situations that appear hopeless. Give me a ring tomorrow afternoon if you would like to discuss potential deck slots in further detail. As always, I love and miss you man.

Veteran's Armaments is looking better now. I mean, I have a Bravado--why not have two? Having one as an artifact and one as an enchantment adds a bit of a defensive layer, too. Probably better to have that sword than a Reckless One, although I do like that card. Plus, if I get a Legion Loyalist I'll have a soldier. Not huge, but hey.

I was already 100% aware that this deck needed more card draw and that card draw is especially important in EDH so no need for such emphasis, buddy. Some of your suggestions and others like them are in the Maybe board (I also have a private deck that is basically a huge list of utility cards exactly like those). Many are also way too expensive. Cards like this are going to be the last pieces of the puzzle as I fit them into the deck real estate as well as my budget. For instance, Wheel of Fortune is right out. Maybe I'll invest in one one day but as-is I'm already spending money I don't have on these cards. Reforge the Soul seems like it'll be at the top of the list.

Soul Spike and Pulse of the Forge: Hell yeah! Those look dope. I can see their utility quite clearly. Cheap, too. Consider them bought.

Dash Hopes: Wow! Never seen a black card like this. I think I have to have it, even if only for the side board.

Darkness is pretty cool! Expensive though.

As far as tutoring/deck searching goes, I'll eventually be rocking a Goblin Matron, Boggart Harbinger, Moggcatcher, and Goblin Recruiter + Goblin Ringleader . Also, I have a Diabolic Tutor. I know I could a little more and, like you said, there are cheap alternatives to Vampiric Tutors and Demonic Tutors. Beseech the Queen was already on my list, for instance.

Dark Petition, Ill-Gotten Gains, Increasing Ambition, too.

As far as the mana ramping, I swear I had a few ideas for it. All I can remember right now is Goblin Offensive. Drain Life is perfect for this deck, I think! Just the black flavor I was looking to add.

Just remembered one: Profane Command. I thought that would be a good utility card and a fun splash of black flavor. Rakdos's Return too, although I think that would be easily dropped to make room. Great for a black/red control deck.

Oh, and Vampiric Link is pretty cool too. Cheap and functional.

As far as the creatures you suggested go, I am at an impasse. I think I need to keep as many non-goblins out of the deck but at the same time many of the utility creatures are more like enchantments with toughnesses, you know? For instance, the original skeleton deck had a Hissing Iguanar and a Deathgreeter. Seems like a fun tactic to do; have cards proc off of anything dying. That way when I sacrifice I get returns and when I kamikaze I get more returns. That's why I want a Grave Pact. I think it's powerful with this deck AND flavorful. That with Warstorm Surge and Impact Tremors seems like a fun combination. I might roll with Impact Tremors only since it's cheaper and so many of the goblins will be 1/1 anyway.

The walls you suggested are sensational but I think it would be more efficient to use disposable tokens or regenerating goblins and the like to block. I will probably get them for my future red/black control deck for sure! Now that I think about it, if I can get a Sword of Vengeance on an indestructible-ized goblin (or a Goblin Snowman!) that would be a good blocker. I wonder if there are any Vigilance-providing anthem cards? Probably some white legendary Human Soldier or Angel.

Take a look at mana-gen these cards: Burnt Offering , Cabal Ritual , Culling the Weak , Dark Petition , Dragonrage , Magus of the Coffers , Nirkana Revenant , & Soulbright Flamekin .

Also, "Geosurge" (doesn't show up on this website).

Here are some black cards that remove cards from your opponents hand that are not too shabby: Addle , Coercion , Mind Twist , Gruesome Discovery , Mind Slash , Persecute , Pulse of the Dross , and everyone's favorite Hymn to Tourach. If you were thinking about throwing any 'evil-black' discard stuff in there.

Along the same lines as Trailblazer's Boots, there is Price of Progress.

So far I need more card draw and protection from flying. When I get home I'll dig through my cards and see what I have. I believe I have an AEther Membrane for fliers. Akroma's Memorial would be sweet, but $$$.

Also, this deck will be running up against a Avacyn, Angel of Hope commander with great frequency. I have Pack's Disdain for exactly reasons like this but that's just one card. I feel like if I can get Butcher of Malakir going, or buy a Grave Pact and/or Dictate of Erebos (or all three!) that should work okay. Thoughts?
