So this is an updated version of a deck I used to play. The goal of the deck is pretty straightforward, play a Boros Reckoner then hit it with a Star of Extinction. Everything else is set up to filter your hand or ramp into this combo. When the Star of Extinction hits it's really satisfying.

Combo:

  • Boros Reckoner - Key to the deck. It is both defensive and offensive. They won't want to swing into it and I've noticed that people typically don't block him early game unless they can kill him. So depending on your metagame, you can swing in for some free damage.

  • Spiteful Sliver/Brash Taunter - Additional Copies of Boros Reckoner (hereby referred to as "Reckoners"). I've only included one copy of the Brash Taunter because it is slightly more expensive, but it is resilient enough to keep in.

  • Star of Extinction - Twenty damage to the end the game on the spot. It's expensive cost can also work with other cards in the deck if you don't have the mana.

  • Nahiri's Wrath/Blasphemous Act - Alternatives to Star of Extinction and allows us to use them for a lot of damage even if we don't have the mana. It's key to remember that this damage stacks with multiple Reckoners on the field.

Draw/Filtering:

  • Chandra's Regulator - Rummage into combo pieces.

  • Reforge the Soul - Get that fresh hand. It doesn't matter what they have if you can end the match now or the next turn.

  • The Flame of Keld - The downside of the first stage is balanced out by the bonus from the third, especially with multiple reckoners out. This deck can usually play through most if it's hand, so you'll usually only discard less than two cards. This is particularly nice with Risk Factor and Fires of Invention on the battlefield.

  • Treasure Map  - Does a little of everything we want.

The Sideboard:

Maybe/Non-Budget:

  • Blood Moon - Great way to stall the opponent if you can afford them.

Just for Fun:

And that is Boom! Surprise 20 Dmg. Any suggestions or feedback is very appreciated, thank you.
