Centaur Healer negates naya blitz, the newer gruul aggro is tougher, but centaur still helps an ass load, he heals you and you get a solid 3/3 body that you can flash with Restoration Angel to combat trick or just let trade with Hellrider .

Yeah I agree with Scavenging Ooze mainboard for the archangel and just as an awesome card in general. Centaur Healer MB over Loxodon Smiter is totally dependent on meta; you're fine making that decision, even if both are great (I'd side out some higher drops for Smiter in those matchups to run both).
July 29, 2013 12:33 a.m.
Although if you want Restoration Angel mainboard, you could shift Scavenging Ooze to the sideboard
July 29, 2013 12:35 a.m.
Well, the deck has clearly shifted from aggro to midrange. I would work in Restoration Angel at 2x. As you mentioned she's Thragtusk 's best friend, and also synergies well with Centaur Healer and Trostani, Selesnya's Voice . I might also push up to 4x Farseek to help you get to your big guns in the event that you can cheat them in through Garruk.
I'm trying to decide where to suggest that you cut, and I'm leaning towards Voice of Resurgence , at least to the sideboard. Scavenging Ooze is the only other card, but I think you need it for the lifelink trigger more then Voice.
To be honest, I liked your aggro version better. That lineup was a beast, this lineup has some good synergies but doesn't feel as strong of a build. I don't know, your buddy Behgz might have some thoughts because he knows your local meta too.
I still think Sigarda, Host of Herons belongs in the sideboard, she helps advance your deck, and is a big plus against black sacrifice mechanics (actually white too now that Celestial Flare is out there). I think Sigarda is better then Loxodon, unless you see control/discard like crazy locally. But usually, I see sacrifice removal more then counter/discard.
I like Oblivion Ring over Sundering Growth . You don't have a strong enough populate element to warrant the latter and Trostani, Selesnya's Voice is more there for the lifegain trigger with Archangel of Thune . Oblivion Ring gives you removal against a wider array of threats.
I did a quick playtest last night against my control deck AEtherling is Alright (which has changed a little bit too since the last test). Your deck gassed out pretty quick, and it's not surprising that your current deck will have problems against control. Anyway, I'm not sure how you improve for that matchup at your local gaming store but it's something to keep in mind. Hope this helps.

P.S. sigarda and resto = more angels = 2x cavern of souls = better control matchup.

@Apoptosis: thanks for your input, I will definitely take your suggestions to heart. That being said, this deck is STILL a work in progress, and I know that there are still improvements to be made. The thing is that I've never much been a fan of the aggro archetype, which is clear by the way this decklist has evolved. My reasoning behind this is similar to Behgz in that I don't want to just poop out my hand of creatures, turn them sideways, and win (hopefully). To me that's boring. I know it's an uphill battle to make a competitive midrange deck within this color scheme, which is to say, no 3rd color splashed for control. But I have seen some VERY competitive standard selesnya midrange decklists online that I am somewhat trying to emulate (see starcitygames top 8s). Again, your input is VERY appreciated. Thank you.

Add a Gavony Township for consistency and to outrace aggro decks even faster. Also, Kalonian Hydra (probably as a 2 of, but a 1 of also works) would be insane, since the life gain/Archangel game plan seems to be very prevalent here (also if you add township). Nice deck!

Selesnya is one of my favorite guilds and sadly not the easiest guild to make tournament viable but this is an amazing brew that playtests very well :D Great job bro! Primeval Bounty is an amazing new green card! I know you've probably got your own ideas for this but Archangel of Thune seems like it may or may not fit here. Just an idea bouncing around :D Good luck with this deck dude!

I never think my comments through and realized as soon as I posted that that Archangel of Thune was not the card I meant to type -- I meant Angelic Skirmisher -- lol

@LittleBigMak: thanks for your comment, I appreciate your support. Feel free to hit that upvote button there at the top of the page since you like my deck. I will definitely check out your decks, and pay it forward. ;-)
@flashter: thanks man. As always, I love your enthusiasm! Haha.

Love the deck. Selesnya is my favorite. Personally I think Sigarda, Host of Herons is better than Angel of Serenity, but with Avacyn rotating out that is a strong card.

What are you trying to cheat into play with Garruk, Caller of Beasts or are you just using him for card advantage? Because personally I think you would be better served with Garruk Relentless Flip because all your ramp you could just pay for the creatures after you tutored them up. Or the combination of both Garruk Relentless Flip and Garruk, Caller of Beasts could be righteous, to tutor up a singleton threat and then slap it down into play something extremely broken like a Turn 4 Worldspine Wurm

@DrFunk27: thanks a lot man, I appreciate the kind words. Sigarda, Host of Herons and I have a long and sordid past. Haha. I DO think she at least belongs in the SB of this brew, but unfortunately I no longer own any copies of her, and it's tough to justify reinvesting in any card from Innistrad block or M13 this close to rotation.
@dhoard1320: Yes, I am using Garruk, Caller of Beasts primarily for the card advantage rather than for his middle ability to cheat out bomb drops. Most of the people I know that have selesnya brews are still running Garruk, Primal Hunter , and that is primarily for the advantage of HIS card draw ability. I never have been a fan of Garruk Relentless Flip , I always had a tough time keeping him alive after I managed to flip him. I would like to be able to tutor for singleton bomb drops, don't get me wrong, but you'd have an easier job convincing me to splash black so I could just use Diabolic Tutor s themselves. Haha.

Im running a very similar deck and trying to fine tune it. I have smiters instead of thragtusks and trostani instead of resto angel. Ive been struggling to ramp with only dorks and wonder if farseek is going to be more consistent. Ive found that by the time im in position to drop thune...ive allready won or lost the match...so far ive struggled against american control...and gone about 50/50 with jund. How do you side board against aggro, control, and jund/naya/ midrange?
I am looking into a junk shell featuring blood baron instead of thragtusk and saw a really interesting deck on starcity by brian demars.
Anyways plus one for the deck and i really really dig this newest version and you may have convinced me to drop my beloved smiters from this deck. The combo to be able to drop thrag after thune is dropped or restoing a thrag after thune is dropped is just awesome.
Also with garruk i find that when i place him off of a dork or two and then use his one up...i find myself discarding much needed land for angel of serenity when the dorks get removed or selesnya charm for whatever...what do you do in that situation?
August 1, 2013 1:55 a.m.
The combo is Scavenging Ooze activating his ability and gaining life multiple times while Archangel of Thune is out. But the resto/thrag combo works too.

May I recommend Arbor Elf as Elvish Mystic only produces green mana while Arbor Elf untaps Temple Garden ?

@Ballade1754: thank you for the suggestion. The only reason Arbor Elf isn't currently in the decklist is because I fear with my terrible luck that I'd have an Arbor Elf out with only Cavern of Souls , Sunpetal Grove , and Plains on the field. Haha.
@Fartingmonk3y: I prefer a couple Farseek over running 2 playsets of dorks simply because you don't lose the ramp advantage you gained with them after a board wipe, whereas with dorks, you obviously do. I too find that control is my weakest match up. I side in Rootborn Defenses , and Pithing Needle against those decks. Against aggro Centaur Healer and Celestial Flare s are on deck. Oblivion Ring works well against most builds, but against midrange they are very helpful. Also, I haven't had too many issues with losing vitals cards with Garruk, Caller of Beasts plus ability, so I don't know what to tell you there.

Ouch. :P
Just played this against a guy running junk, he used Putrefy on my Thragtusks and I got free beasts. Then he ragequit when I used an Angel of Serenity when he had a Fiendslayer Paladin and an Archangel of Thune on the field.
Well, actually, he tried to play a Blood Baron of Vizkopa and then I Advent of the Wurmed him. THEN he ragequit. So, I guess... that's... technically a win?

The new updates look great man! This is gonna be a tough deck to compete with! +1!! Obviously, as you mentioned last night, there are current cards that will enhance this deck... Nylea, God of the Hunt , por ejemplo. This fills me with dread. Haha.
